I'm looking for a good set of 2.1 speakers to use in my dorm room hooked up to my laptop. It's eventually going to be a MacBook Pro, so if that's too weak to drive any worthwhile speakers then I guess recommend a good set of speakers with an iPod dock instead.

Thanks

you can find the speakers cheaper on other sites, but i dunno what their shipping costs would be.

Thanks Orbital.

And you're sure those wouldn't be too hardcore for my laptop? Right now I'm on a 2 1/2 year old HP, probably an integrated sound card.

EDIT: Actually I just realized, I have no idea where I'd plug these in. My only audio port is my headphone jack on the front. Maybe I should just wait on the speakers until I get that MacBook Pro...

Get these, they are cheap, and work really well!

They plug into your headphone jack. I used these when I was pres of an Anime Club. We'd watch anime from my laptop plugged into a projector, and these speakers worked perfectly.
I highly recomend this set to anybody who is looking for cheap speakers.

They can plug into a headphone jack. I have mine pluged into the headphone jack of my computer. I don't know if a laptop could drive them since mine is hooked up the X-Fi soundcard in my desktop, but if I can I definately reccomend them. Great, clear sounding speakers, and a nice bass that won't be overwhelming unless you want it to be.

um there's an amp built in to the subwoofer, so your soundcard = driving nothing
