They're picketing at my college tonight, in response to some play called "The Laramie Project"(basically, a play about a gay man being killed for being gay). This is a quote from their site:

I have preachers on my campus who will yell and scream about how everyone is a slut or going to hell.

I realize people have the right to free speech, but I seriously cannot stand having to listen to some nutjob tell me I'm a filthy heathen as I walk to my class.

*Sigh* I remember as a kid living in Topeka. Just driving around town on the weekends you'd inevitably see a group of members on some street corner picketing nothing in particular, just holding up their usual signs of "God Hates Fags" "Fags Burn In Hell" et cetera. I thought it was just normal to see that sort of thing. I went to school with one of Fred Phelps' grandsons, he was a pretty nice kid as I far as I recall........though I'd hate to think of how he is now. I remember once when Ol' Freddy boy tried coming to a school pancake breakfast and was not allowed in....heh.

Yes, you should go. Just be careful of any interactions with them. They are quick to decry any perceived "persecution" and aren't afraid to use lawyers.

Yes, go. This has the potential to be funny.

Also, god damn, man. The only kind of people we have on our campus are Mormons, and all they do is say "hello" when you get off the bus. They won't even say anything to you about god unless you engage them about it.
