Full Version: End of the year part 2: Disappointing 3 albums of 2006.

Zebrahead

This is the second part of the year-end special. Name your 3 most disappointing albums of 2006.

1. Trivium - The Crusade: What is this shit? Oh, now I remember, it's a bunch of whiny, arrogant wankers ripping off Metallica's '80s thrash legacy for 13 songs. These guys just flat-out annoy me now.

2. Lamb of God - Sacrament: I swear I've heard this album before, on pretty much every previous work they've done. Except this one doesn't even sound as good. Some boring mosh anthems dedicated to white trash, and not much more. Sad.

3. Less Than Jake - In With The Out Crowd: What happened to these guys? This is pathetic. A bunch of uninspired pop-punk without the ska that made them great. Don't abandon such great roots, guys. Come on.

Dishonorable mentions:

AFI - Decemberunderground
Lacuna Coil - Karmacode
Incubus - Light Grenades
Pearl Jam - s/t
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
Audioslave - Revelations
Mushroomhead - Savior Sorrow
My Dying Bride - A Line of Deathless Kings
Isis - In The Absence of Truth
Trogdor the Burninator
Jay-Z - Kingdom Come
Angels and Airwaves - We Don't Have To Whisper (I changed my mind about it.)
Anti-Flag - whatever the hell it was called, I don't even remember.
NOFX - Wolves in Wolves Clothing, got really old quickly.
Zombie N-Word
1. Jay-Z - Kingdom Come: I was really hoping that despite the shitiness of both the singles that Jay would pull through for me but alas. Everything he spit was trash, Minority Report was a really good song though.

2. Evanescence - The Open Door: There were times when I thought I was listening to songs from their last album. Weak.

3. The Game - The Doctor's Advocate: The Game has potential, he just needs to pry himself out of Dr. Dre's asshole, he also needs someone to tell him that he's got quite a ways to go before he even dreams of holding himself in the same regards as Dre. Everything on this album was totally dumbed down, I know he can rap better.
Svyatogornyj
Isis - In The Absence Of Truth

That's the only one that comes to mind now.

No, wait, I guess the Kalas record was somewhat disappointing. It's good but with such a good line-up it could've ruled a lot harder. I still think Matt Pike can do no wrong.

Yeah, I wasn't into the new Isis record much either.
Trogdor the Burninator
The new Isis rules, wtf.

The new Isis rules, wtf.

I <3 Panopticon but this one just didn't strike a chord with me.
Population Index
1. Summoning - Oath Bound - Okay, I think my ears are broken because, unlike pretty much everyone, I think old Summoning is amazing but only grow more and more impatient with their new stuff. LotR black fucking metal > LotR folky keyboard faggot adventures. This is the soundtrack to a basement D&D game.

2. Wormphlegm - Tomb of the Ancient King - I actually like this album a bit, but it's disappointing in that it hardly sets the same eerie atmosphere as their amazing demo. Just another funeral doom album.

3. Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime II - In their defense, this is easily the best thing they've released since Empire and isn't completely terrible, but anyone who loved the first O:M as much as I should understand.

I don't really think there was anything that I outright detested... though I didn't exactly hear much from this year, so yeah.

EDIT: omfg how could I forget Sadus - Out For Blood. Gross album all around, especially considering what Sadus are capable of. ew ew
Brent Black
1. Squarepusher - Hello Everything Banal, forgettable, sounds like a cover band.

2. Tool - 10,000 Days Banal, forgettable, sounds like a cover band.

3. Umphrey's McGee - Safety in Numbers Banal, forgettable, sounds like a cover band.
Ender Wiggin
The only album that truly disappointed me this year was Kingdom Come. Everything about it just felt weak and mediocre, only a couple of good songs that still don't come close to his greatest.
Elucidarius
Between the Buried and Me- The Anatomy of: Alright this cd is just a bunch of fucking covers, albeit they are really great covers they sound exactly like the original. Maybe if they did it in their own style it would be awesome but come on guys wtf?

The Blood Brothers- Young Machete: A lot of people love this cd, a lot of people hate it. I'm one of the ones that hate it. They slowly progressed to this so I can't say I didn't see it coming but Burn Piano Island Burn and This Adultry is Ripe were the shit.

That's all that comes to mind.

1. Tool - 10,000 Days: It honestly felt like they're trying too hard to sound psychedelic and conform to the public's image of them.

2. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium: I was really hoping that the Chili Peppers would come back to that great grungy Californication sound, but they fell flat on their face, imo.

3. Frost - Milliontown: Great album, probably one of the top 3 of the year. The only reason this is making the list is simply because Frost broke up not too long after the album was released. That and I can't think of a third one.
Trogdor the Burninator
I forgot Cursive - Happy Hollow.

ATTN: Tim Kasher RE: Song Writing
Instead of watching the Wizard of Oz and smoking meth or whatever you did to make this pile, please stop. Some people attribute it to Gretta leaving, I blame YOU. Get a divorce and start drinking again.
Paul MC Hurt Meh
All I know is AFI blew. I honestly didn't really listen to alot of music from 2006 this year, but that really dissapointed me.

Tenacious D could have been better, but it was a movie soundtrack, and I still find it really entertaining.
