Registration for Yahoo fantasy football opened today, so I made a league.

Changes from last year:

1. Decreased QB and DEF positions to 1 each and bench players to 8. QB and DEF were decreased because of the relative thin-ness of the positions...if we have a full league, 20 of the 32 starters at those positions would be required to be taken, and probably somewhere around 30 would end up being taken to fill the bench, especially for QB. This leaves no options on the waiver wire and an unbalanced game. The bench decrease was made because after decreasing the other two positons, 9 bench players seemed excessive.

2. Changed amount of playoff teams from 8 to 6. Last year, only two teams missed the playoffs, making for some big mismatches come playoff time. This one may come back to bite me as I barely eked my way into the playoffs last year and ended up finishing 2nd. >_>

3. Changed waiver time to 2 days and changed the status of players after the draft from free agents to waivers. The point of having the players go to waivers after the draft is so that the poor bastard that ended up picking last has first crack at the free agent pool on waiver priority.

4. Increased the value of a passing touchdown to 6 points instead of 5, changed the number of passing yards per point from 35 to 30.

5. Changed amount of rushing yards per point from 15 to 10. RBs were underpowered last year.

6. Took away the penalty for missed field goals.

7. Increased the amount of points for a sack from 1 to 2.

8. Added milestone bonuses, which are as follows:

- 300 passing yards = 10 bonus points
- 100 rushing yards = 10 bonus points
- 100 receiving yards = 10 bonus points.

I landed on these values as they're generally considered to be a good game yardage wise for players at those positions.

Other than those changes, (which are pretty minor except for the amount of playoff teams and the roster changes) the league is exactly the same this year as it was last year.

Currently, the draft time is September 1st at 10:30 PM, but we can of course move that up.

hmmm...not sure if I agree with the changes to QB and DEF.....but i'll probably play anyways.

QB could really go either way, but DEF definitely needed to be changed. Because of the limited free agent defenses, there was a team or two every week that was completely fucked with their DEF. That's the one part of fantasy football where you should never be hung out to dry.

How big does your league usually get? I might get involved...

Right now the max is 10 teams, which is usually the number we land on anyway.

Do you do invidividual or team QBs?

What do you mean? You mean like, for example, if you draft Ben Roethlisberger do you get points if Charlie Batch starts in his place? The answer to that one would be no. So individual, I guess.

That would be what it is.. You essentially draft "<TEAM> QB", and any QB that plays accumulates towards your points. It really helps with injuries and backups

I've never been in a league where you drafted QB based on the team. If you're going to do it that way, why not draft the team for every position? Injuries are part of the game, even in fantasy.

I would gather no one has joined yet as you put the league name and not the league ID which is what you need to log into it.

Also, is this league attached to last years? I kinda like when we do that, though it adds nothing, just shows the previous years winners and such.

It actually turns into a way of balance (at least in my league) at the QB position. Drafting invidividual quarterbacks often turned out horrible as the minute that starting QB went down/sat, you lost a ton of offensive production (admittedly, this came about in a year when RBs weren't hoisting large numbers, and was balanced when my league ended up giving half-points for caught passes). I dunno, I'll prolly still join if I feel like it. Be the first time I'll ever solo-run a team (been splitting the cost of a team with my brother, as the league we play in has been full for 3 years).

What numbers? Yahoo lets you create an ID, and I used "404 Error." Fuck, how stupid do you have to be? There are three teams in the league right now, including me. Which means that 2/3 of the people in the league right now had to type in a league ID and password. Two other people here figured it out, why can't you?

yeah it will pick from your pre-rankings until they are gone, then I think it takes the highest ranked player left. I would set alot of pre-rankings just to be sure.

Will it just draft on who's ranked the highest, or will it auto fill positions?

It will draft the highest ranked player on your prerankings, but it'll also fill out your starting roster first. For example, say you prerank 40 RBs followed by 30 receivers. It'll take the top three available RBs on your list to fill out RB, RB and RB/WR on your starting roster, but then no matter what RBs are available it'll start taking receivers until it either fills out your starting requirements for that position or it runs out of preranked players at that position. What you'll end up with is good starters, but a lousy bench, because you'll be drafting kickers, defenses and tight ends before you fill out your bench at all. Also, it'll autodraft a backup for every position, so you'll be carrying two defenses, two kickers and two tight ends. The best think to do is to just prerank your players exactly how you would draft at that position if you were in the draft and you'll end up with a good team for missing the draft.

My fantasy teams this year suck ass. In 2 leagues, I'm like, 3rd in Points scored, and have 1-2 wins in each. It's bullshit.
