Scorched Earth Policy
That couldn't have been good for either team's bullpen.

Damn CC is pitching like shit. Maybe all those extra innings pitched are starting to catch with him? Probably not since his velocity isn't down. Maybe he is suffering from Brad Lidge syndrome after getting lit up in the playoffs.

His BABIP is .415. Just a streak of bad luck...he'll come around when the defense starts picking him up.

That being said, he HAS walked an equal number of batters as he's stricken out and given up 5 homers, so maybe luck is only partly the problem.

Give Sabathia the best defense in the league and his ERA is still in the high tens. Defense has almost nothing to do with Sabathia's problems right now, his nonexistent control/location does.
Epoch
The Astros suck dicks.
Scorched Earth Policy
THe Blue Jay DFA'd Frank Thomas and are going to have Matt Stairs DH for them now. Mariners seem to be the favorites to pick him up.
Svyatogornyj
Was Zambrano on coke tonight or does he really intake that much caffeine?

Smoltz - 3,000 Ks. Way2go!
zabean?
grandersoons baaaaaack!

19 runs baby

Looks like the Giants are going to dump Zito in the bullpen

There are still 6 years and $112 million left on his contract and he will probably never get his fastball back

I almost feel bad for them.
zabean?
tigers are lighting shit up baby they've gone 8-2 in their last 10 including a sweep over the yanks in NY and have gone 12-6 since starting 9-2

over 500 in no time :!
Frankie G
Yankees get swept, then they sweep. Well, at least they're over 500 with only 1 good starter, and a fuck load of injuries.
zabean?
tigers sweep, then get swept

sad too we were up 6 nothing before i left
Himura Kenshin
Oh yeah Cards!

And loltigers.
Scorched Earth Policy
Gavin Floyd has been quite the pleasant surprise for the White Sox. Hes pitching a bit over his head at this point, but I think his numbers at the end of the season could be very good for a 5th starter.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ozzie has Buerhle throw at Mauer tonight.
The President
Fuck Brandon Webb why are you so dreamy.
Feern
How is detroit doing? Anyone knows?
Himura Kenshin
I'm not sure there's a word to describe the let down that is the '08 season thus far for the Tigers.

16-22 now.

I think as of last night Carlos Quentin leads the AL in OPS and HRs. Hes been a fantastic pick up for the White Sox as has Gavin Floyd considering what the D-Backs and the Phillies have done with the players the White Sox sent them for these players.

The ChiSox actually did pretty well for themselves last offseason. Nick Swisher was exactly the kind of player they needed...a young power hitter who gets on base well. Personally, though, I think they gave up too many prospects in the offseason. If they draft well or trade to get some other prospects, then they made the right move, but it's always a bad idea to mortgage the future unless you're making a legit run at the Series, which I don't think the Sox can do yet this year.
Himura Kenshin
Brewers relieved Gagne of his reliever role. lolz
Svyatogornyj
I fucking hate Aaron Heilman.
Himura Kenshin
Cardinals sad.gif C'mon, damn pitching...
Trogdor the Burninator
The Twins are just beyond me, they make me want to strangle children. We can kick Boston's ass but we drop a series to fucking Toronto?
The Clown
Pirates continue to suck, Nate McLouth continues to be really, really good at baseball. I really hope they don't trade this kid. If they can unload Jason Bay for a prospect package, when Steve Pearce and Andrew McCutchen come up we can slot McLouth over to left and suddenly have a pretty potent outfield.

It looks like a fire sale is in the works for Rockies, Fuentes is on the block and Helton would probably go to

It'd be a bad move to trade Helton right now. If they're going to trade him, they should hold onto him until next year when he has a chance to play better and maximize his trade value. Right now he wouldn't command much more than a middling and a low-quality prospect.
Svyatogornyj
Pedro v. Zito and Joba v. Halladay tonight.
Scorched Earth Policy
not quite what the Yankees wanted from Joba but if they really wanted to ease him into the starter's role with limited pitch counts he should probably be doing it in AAA while they have Rasner or someone else start and eat up innings

Speaking of Todd Helton, I don't think there's a better example of someone who stuggles without steroids/HGH or whatever he took.

Congrats on 600 Griffey. It's a shame there isn't more like you in pro baseball these days.
Zebrahead

Congrats Griffey! Still one of the classiest ballplayers ever, and he did it cleanly.
zabean?
so dontrelle willis made his second start after coming off the dl

8 runs 3 hits and 5 walks in 1 and a 1/3 inning

really comfortable with that three year contract
The Clown
Big milestone for Griffey. Kind of makes you wonder what could have been without injuries, though. He could probably be the all-time HR leader right now, and nobody would be mad about it like they are with Bonds.
Scorched Earth Policy
Bavasi should be fired and given a compimentary fleshlight on the way out
The Clown
Pirates had an excellent draft. Nice to see a GM that knows WTF he's doing. Their draft was rated second only to the Tigers in the major leagues by scout.com.
Himura Kenshin
cry.gif Pujols may be hurt!
Scorched Earth Policy
Smoltz career looks like it might be over since it seems he has a damaged labrum which will be difficult to recover enough from at his age to be able to pitch successfully at the big league level.

He'll be a first ballot hall of famer for sure with his unique and long pitching career where he had great success as both a starter and a closer (200 wins, 150 saves, 3000 Ks)
The Clown
Smoltz has surprised before. I'm not counting him out until he makes it official.

Even if it ended right now, though, he's still one of the most dominant pitchers of a generation. Much respect for him, even from an avid Braves hater like myself.

Sorry, you're retarded. Helton is one of the best all around hitters in the past decade and has never used steroids. He has been in a steady decline because of age most likely.
Himura Kenshin
Pujols out for at least 3 weeks! FUCK!

Ah well, least they put a beatdown on Cinci.
