Alright, so I was shopping around the other day when I got a wild hair up my ass to buy a vinyl record player. It's one of those things that I've wanted for a while and just never spent the money on. I went to a few antique stores, some music stores, a mall, etc. The thing I didn't count on is that those things are fucking expensive. Eventually in the mall I happened upon an Emerson Heritage system that's basically a boombox with a turntable...it plays CDs, records, cassettes and has an AM/FM radio. It's obviously not the best system in the world, because it's budget, and like I said before, it's basically a boombox...meaning the stereo system is built in and there's no line out to attach different speakers. What you see is what you get.
Overall, it doesn't sound TOO bad considering the price I paid. My only problem is that it's lacking on lower and midrange bass tones, making some songs sound higher treble than they really are. It has a headphone jack, so when I'm doing any serious listening I usually just attach some high end headphones and listen to it that way, since it eliminates the limitations of built-in speakers. Occasionally, though, it would be cool to get the same sound quality from a source other than headphones. What I'm wondering is, are there any speakers that I could just plug into the headphone jack that would give me the sound I'm looking for? Or perhaps an adapter that I can plug in that will give me line out ports to attach real speakers? If not, it's not a huge deal...I'm no audiophile or anything, (obviously, or I wouldn't buy anything made by Emerson in the first place.) it's just something I notice.
