No this is nothing like radiohead. Radiohead didn't offer various bitrates. Radiohead also offerred shitty 160kbps only. Radiohead also kept some songs for the physically CD. Radiohead also didn't have a 40 page pdf out.

Radiohead was a ridiculous marketing gimmick. What NiN has done is release music the RIGHT way on the internet, did you see the license on it?
Svyatogornyj
I was laughing at Radiohead. Saul Williams does this, too.
Master Bob
Supposedly Saul William's release was a dissappointment in terms of sales. Something like only 20% of the people payed and it made Trent Razor mad.
Svyatogornyj
It would make him mad. What did he expect? That's a sick record either way. At least he did a great job on the production.

Who (other than nerds) is going to sit around and read a 40 page PDF about nothing? There were no songs kept for the physical CD, as I own both of them, unless you mean the discbox. furthermore

ONLY NERDS CARE ABOUT FUCKING BITRATES. That money you spent on those expensive headphones could have bought drugs and then you wouldn't care about the bitrate.

Fans of the group will read the 40 page PDF, just like people read the track booklets.
I meant the discbox.
And no generally people care about bitrates as well, just on a much lower level ie 32kbps vs 128. And drugs only last so long.

You are a nerd as well, in case you forgot.

Ugh. Radiohead's thing was not a marketing gimmick. Radiohead's thing was a "hey, it's done, let's get it out now without having to wait for 5 more months even though the damn album is finished" thing.

People are always trying to compare Radiohead with NIN and Saul William's thing, saying they didn't go far enough against record labels or something, which is pure bullshit because they weren't doing it to be anti-record labels, like Trent Reznor. They say in almost every fucking interview that it was just because the album was out and they wanted people to have it. Honestly, intentions like that don't get more nobler.
