What new discoveries can there be once we find out everything there is to know about anatomy, space & time?
This was inspired by the Star Trek teaser trailer btw.

And when are we going to do that?
In my hypothetical question it can be anywhere between 20XX-9099.

Don't expect humans to live that long.

I do. But we'll probably get really fucked up a few times.
I don't expect us to ever find out everything there is to know about anatomy, space, and time, though. Or anywhere near.

Hopefully string theory will have died out by then. It should be dead by now.

We're too busy worrying about the moral and philosophical implications of the shit we've already discovered to discover new things.
As to the original question...uhhh...nothing? Wouldn't discovering everything about all of those just about fill up our queue of stuff we need to know?

in order to know everything, one must also know the past and future completely. it's not gonna happen. if it did and you insist on thinking about it, what would probably happen is that our heads would turn into banana splits and that would be that

Why wouldn't humans live that long? Just curious on what you think will be the end to mankind.
And I hope they discover how to remove genes responsible for aging, particular in bears. That way I could have a tiny pet bear friend.

Hell yes. We can cure cancer, AIDS, and probably even aging if we want. But there will be too many people saying "Stop playing God!". And there will be too many doctors knowing they can't make a profit with the serious illnesses cured. :-/

But aren't most of the doctors practicing and not researching? Even the doctors or scientists who researched mainly can still revert to practicing and still profit off that.

Even if people living longer, healther lives would hurt doctors in the long run, it would probably be all around better for other industries. If there's really a conspiracy doctors certainly aren't behind it.

To say that were going to discover everything there is to know about everything is to assume that the human brain is equipped to understand all there is and isnt just an imperfect organ evolved to help us survive and navigate through our little world. Even if we genetically alter ourselves to understand these things, there will always be the chance of finding another intelligent lifeform which if it evolved (for lack of a better word, the mechanism of its development would probably have no relation to our evolution) would have to be so different from us that we probably wouldnt be able to begin to understand its consciousness.

Um no. Are some of you forgetting how massive...like infinitely massive the universe is? We've BARELY scratched the surface on our own solar system let alone the billion upon billions of galaxies yet to be explored that our telescopes can't even see. You guys give mankind too much credit. Humans will end up destroying themselves through war. If not that, I'm sure some nasty plague will do the job.

We don't know shit and we never will. I mean, figuratively speaking. Trying to learn everything there is to know about this universe's method of functioning is an asymptotic race to infinity. We'll never get there 'cause there's nowhere to get, and the closer we get, the farther away we'll be.
I mean, shit, what a perfect analogy, asymptotically approaching infinity. Wouldn't that just be any fucking line imaginable then? Never mind. But it's still a good basic metaphor and mental image... I guess.
