Welp, so far my Giants predictions have been completely backwards. Eli has been great, and Jacobs hasn't been particularly good in any of the playoff games (from what I remember).

I don't get how people can say you could see the Packers having a better shot. The giants in my opinion are better defensively. Their d-line has to be the best in the league, and that's what you need to beat New England. If Tom is getting all day like he was against the Jags, he'll go 26/28 every god damn game.

And Favre plays so inconsistent. I like Favre, and if they were on, they'd have a great shot at the Pats, but the packers have played so inconsistent, especially in the second half of the season.

Also I think the Giants have a better run game.
Regardless of what Manning has been doing the past couple weeks, I think he owns the title of inconsistency. And I think the Packers would have had a better shot mostly because Favre has Super Bowl experience and Eli Manning doesn't.

hahahahahahaha

42-7 blowout. The Giants do not stand a chance against the perfect team.

I could have seen a packers/pats close game, however. mad.gif FAVRE!!!!!

Pretty sure I had a dream the other day of Tom Brady hoisting the trophy in the air and the announcer going "...and the Patriots have done the impossible...and have played a perfect season" with confetti streaming everywhere.

New York winning makes the Green Bay loss easier to swallow.

Looks like Brady's ankle was just a ruse according to the injury report. To think this was the big story for the Super Bowl the past week. I'm not really surprised considering Belichick still lists Tom Brady's right shoulder injury for 5 straight years on the injury report.

Well, after rooting against them the whole season, I think I'm going for the Patriots just for the historical significance. It makes me feel like scum. sad.gif

Although Eli Manning getting clutch and winning the Super Bowl would be a great story too.

I want the patriots to win now too. Why? My schedule at work is better. Yes, we have two different schedules. One if the Giants win and one if they lose. I work 24.5 hours if they win and 11 if they lose. I wouldn't mind working more hours, but until I get a car to get to and from school, I don't want to work weekdays.

Dick's sporting goods. We win, we sell a butt load of Giants Super Bowl championship merch so they afford to give us more hours.

Really hoping the Giants win this one. Unlike everyone else in Philly who hates them, I'm from NY and if the Eagles aren't going to win us one I'll be happy with a lil Giants glory.

I missed the final two minutes. I left my dad's apartment after Moss' TD to catch a 10:12 train. I thought it was over. Not only did I miss the final two minutes, I missed the train.

also, this was overall probably the worst game i've watched this season, it was so boring.

Dude, don't even try the better record comment, I was a buckeye fan and 12-1 with Troy Smith doesn't mean shit. You still lost in the championship game. 12-1 sounds great, but only 1 game matters. Big Ten championships don't mean shit to me either. It's all about the superbowl/NC game.

ALso....

Are you fucking kidding me? Boring game? Spoken like sore loser.

That game was fucking tight, to see the defensive pressure put on each QB. All the amazing catches made by Giants WRs. Two touchdowns scored in the final 2-3 minutes. 3 lead changes in the 4th quarter. Eli's miracle escape from 3 or 4 pats defensive linemen. There were QB fumbles, one of which ended the Pats drive 30 seconds before the first half was done.

That play by Eli and that catch should go down as the greatest catch in playoff/superbowl history.

I'd say that's the best super bowl I've ever seen. Honestly....there was a touchdown scored in the last 30 seconds for the lead, how can you say it was a boring game?

Fuck these high scoring games that we are becoming accustomed to. It's nice to see a defensive front 4 that can still pressure a QB. I still think the Pats are a better team however, but the GIants played better in the playoffs.

Agreed. That game was amazing all the way through, especially the last 3 minutes. My girlfriend was over, and she HATES football, and she was on the edge of her seat the whole 4th quarter. You know if the Pats had won, Trog, you'd be talking about what a thrilling finish it was.

Although...best catch in playoff history? Please. The Immaculate Reception, The Catch, and The Catch II were all better than that. Not to say that that catch won't go down as being ONE of the best, but not the best ever.

Don't even try to pull that "better record" shit. I know what you're trying to do...I was there. The Steelers went 15-1 in the regular season. Ben Roethlisberger was undefeated as a rookie with one of the toughest schedules in the league, including a game Pittsburgh won against the Patriots that ended their record-setting win streak. It didn't matter, because they lost the AFC Championship game. The next year, when they snuck into the playoffs and upset everyone they faced as road warriors...kind of like the Giants did this year...was WAY more satisfying.

You should know the satisfaction of being an underdog winner Trog. Back when you were a Vikings fan, the Pats were huge underdogs against the Rams before they cheated to win against them.

Immaculate I'll give as being better. But I don't really care about football before I was born, I hate to say that, but it's just me. But I still agree it's a better catch.

As for the The Catch I and II?....

Catch I is Montana to Clark and Catch II is Young to TO right. I watch those plays, especially Catch I, and I see Montana making a great elusive scramble and a tough throw, however the actual catch itself wasn't that crazy to me....he did just jump up and grabt it with both hands. And TO's catch was slick, especially watching it live against the Packers...but I expected TO to catch that. It was a great hit, but TO was in position and the throw was great.

Also both catches were not in the Super bowl.

Eli's play was less than 3 minutes, down by 3, pocket collapsing, grabbed by like 4 defenders, breaks away, heaves it up.....guy shouldn't have a chance, makes a one handed grab against his helmet.....

Eli's effort was greater than young or Montana's to get away like that....and Tyree's (I think it was Tyree) catch was much more difficult, with 3 defenders hounding him in the middle of the field.....not to mention they were the heavy under dogs.

But the Immaculate I agree is bigger.
Zebrahead

The only part worth watching was the 4th quarter, which was great. The first three were crap. One quarter of awesome play does not a great Super Bowl make.

Tyree's catch was amazing though.

I'm a Mariners fan (unfortunately . . . ). Remember the 2001 Mariners? Probably not. They won 116 games, tying the most ever won. Well it didn't matter, because the Yankees beat them in the ALCS. If they had won the World Series they would be remembered as having one of the best seasons ever. They didn't, and I'm sure few people other than Mariners fans even remember it.

It's a shame that the regular season doesn't mean a thing, and that the 2007-2008 Patriots will be remembered not as the best team ever, but the most disappointing team ever.
