Although...best catch in playoff history? Please. The Immaculate Reception, The Catch, and The Catch II were all better than that. Not to say that that catch won't go down as being ONE of the best, but not the best ever.
Immaculate I'll give as being better. But I don't really care about football before I was born, I hate to say that, but it's just me. But I still agree it's a better catch.
As for the The Catch I and II?....
Catch I is Montana to Clark and Catch II is Young to TO right. I watch those plays, especially Catch I, and I see Montana making a great elusive scramble and a tough throw, however the actual catch itself wasn't that crazy to me....he did just jump up and grabt it with both hands. And TO's catch was slick, especially watching it live against the Packers...but I expected TO to catch that. It was a great hit, but TO was in position and the throw was great.
Also both catches were not in the Super bowl.
Eli's play was less than 3 minutes, down by 3, pocket collapsing, grabbed by like 4 defenders, breaks away, heaves it up.....guy shouldn't have a chance, makes a one handed grab against his helmet.....
Eli's effort was greater than young or Montana's to get away like that....and Tyree's (I think it was Tyree) catch was much more difficult, with 3 defenders hounding him in the middle of the field.....not to mention they were the heavy under dogs.
But the Immaculate I agree is bigger.
