"Breathe Carolina"

I heard them when I was on a date the other night. The whole screaming techno concept is pretty catchy.

Listened to Horse Feathers' album House Without a Home today. Pretty good. I love how laid back it is. It's the type of stuff I'd put on to fall asleep to. I don't mean that it's boring...just relaxing.

well since this topic/board is dead i'm just going to abuse this topic i think

Pyramids - Pyramids [2008]

pretty interesting album, weird mix of sort of black metal and surprisingly relaxing ambience, wouldn't say i enjoy it a lot and i doubt i could listen to the entire album all the way through very much but it's a cool album to have an occasional track from in my playlist, favorite tracks are "This House Is Like Any Other World" and "End Resolve"

It's not dead :[

Listened to another Horse Feathers album recently. Not as good as the first one I listened to, but still pretty neat. They are a new favorite of mine for sure.

Discovered Lemon Demon (prob a bit late) a couple weeks ago and listened to that until I couldn't stand his voice anymore (so like...3 days). He really sucks at singing, which is a shame cuz I like the lyrics/music for the most part.

Also recently started listening to Sisters of Mercy and The Wake. I definitely prefer Tones on Tail or Bauhaus to either band, but I am happy with them both. I do like The Wake better than Sisters of Mercy though.
Tiz
yes it is

Chris Cornell - Scream [2009]

one of the most disgusting things i've ever heard in my life, no highlights whatsoever, chris cornell doing r&b pop tunes is just retarded, especially when they have hooks like "no that bitch ain't a part of me"

what the fuck chris
Tiz
Wardruna - Runaljod - Gap Var Ginnunga [2009]

a little long and slightly boring but not that bad, more dark ambient music like pyramids but a lot more calm and deliberate as opposed to sort of noise blasting, no real highlights but again like pyramids wouldn't mind a song coming up in random play even though i probably won't listen to the album again

I WATCHED YOU LISTEN TO THIS.
Tiz
why

Beirut - Gulag Orkestar [2006]

really enjoyed this one, especially "Postcards from Italy" and "Scenic World"

The Book of Knots - Traineater [2007]

downloaded this based on hearing the track "Red Apple Boy" through last.fm radio, apparently that was the only remotely good track on the entire thing because the rest is boring as hell
Tiz
thenewno2 - You Are Here [2008]

liked the tracks that made their way to rock band and after hearing the rest of the album may be in future dlc i decided to listen to the whole thing, and i'm pretty sure i don't want any more thenewno2 in rock band seeing how a lot of these tracks either sound the same or aren't very interesting, even though it is a decent album
Tiz
Harvey Danger - Where Have All the Merrymakers Gone? [1997]

loved "Flagpole Sitta" when i was younger, only getting around to listening to the album now though, not terribly memorable but some catchy fun tunes, i have the other two albums and i'll listen to them later
Tiz
Wellwater Conspiracy - Brotherhood of Electric: Operational Directives [1999]

just a chill supergroup album, got it because i like the drummer matt cameron, no HUGE standout tracks mostly because matt cameron is a pretty terrible singer but his drumming is cool, the highlight for me was "Hal McBlaine" which is an instrumental track so thats probably why, overall a chill album that kind of sounds like a bunch of classic rock b-sides

Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy [2008]

didnt really give the album a full fair listen around when it came out so did that today, i like some of the tracks that remind me of old gnr but some of them are downright terrifying in how awful they are, like "Street of Dreams" which sounds like a song straight out of that characters dracula rock opera in Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Tiz
Zu - Carboniferous [2009]

somehow did not know this was a collaborative effort with mike patton when i downloaded and started listening to it, and when i came across the information i was a little scared because patton collabs have not been very kind to me and i dont want to hear him scream to avant garde jazz

but the instrumentation from zu was a fucking blessing and pattons vocals arent very featured except on by far the worst track of the album "Soulympics" again letting me know that pattons wailing fits now sound just as awkward and embarassing to me as that 'mommy' rant in "Down with the Sickness" by disturbed must sound to fans of disturbed

outside of that track, the first album i really enjoy from this year, very fun and energetic jazz metal/rock with some very fun time signature manipulation that occasionally reminds me of the best parts of meshuggah, especially on "Carbon", and i can't wait to check out their albums without patton

Tiz
i just recently downloaded my first album by them, i hope to give it a listen soon but i have to convert it first because its in m4a and that bothers me

Kalisia - Cybion [2009]

pretty good technical/progressive death metal, but if an album ever needed to be shortened it is this one, still pretty impressive
Tiz
Buckethead - Slaughterhouse on the Prairie [2009]

this is my first buckethead album because while i wasnt interested in just getting guitar virtuoso albums someone told me that bucketheads albums were actually pretty eclectic and experimental as far as virtuosos go so i figured i would give his newest album a listen, and i do agree that this is way more interesting than most virtuoso albums because some of the tracks get flat out weird on guitar like "Blood Bayou" and "Don't Use Roosts If You Raise Broilers", so while i wouldnt say i would listen to a lot of this kind of stuff these are mostly pretty cool tracks and i'll keep it in the playlist, maybe grab some other albums
Dagger Jane
So I stopped by Epoch's last.fm page to request his friendship when I saw that he'd been listening to Richard Cheese. I've heard of the guy before but didn't really know much about him. Listened to down with the sickness, and it was pretty funny. Yay.

smokin weed...

i should probably start posting in this topic, or make a blog or something. i listen to a ton of new shit every day.

the best thing i've listened to in the past week is zomby - where were u in '92? if you like electronic stuff, rap (sick remix of pillz by gucci mane), dubstep or video games listen to it.
Tiz
Radiohead - Pablo Honey [1993]

ive avoided this album for years but i finally decided to give it a go, pretty bland but not as bad as i was expecting, i like "Blow Out"

Pure Reason Revolution - Amor Vincit Omnia [2009]

one of their tracks appeared on last fm radio a couple times and i really liked it, off the album The Dark Third though, and the style of music on this album is completely different, as if the same band decided to make an album with electronic soundscapes, its pretty good but i dont like it nearly as much as that track so i'm guessing i'll enjoy their other work more

Khanate - Clean Hands Go Foul [2009]

an absolute chore to listen to aside from the expert use of sound effects and depth, the 32 minute track "Every God Damn Thing" is just too much
Tiz
James LaBrie - Elements of Persuasion [2005]

figured it would resemble older dream theater, instead resembles the newer dream theater but more boring outside of a track or two

Semi Precious Weapons - We Love You [2008]

very very fun to listen to, "Magnetic Baby" and "Semi Precious Weapons" are the clear standouts but i like pretty much the whole thing, not crazy about the album but very fun
Tiz
Pocahaunted - Gold Miner's Daughters EP [2009]

i liked this drone more than the Khanate album, it also resembled psychedelic music more but still not exactly fascinating to listen to

are you trying to get into drone or doom metal or something? i can hook you up with some recs/links if you want.
Tiz
yeah a little bit, i'm not trying too hard though, i'm just grabbing a bunch of random shit

i like the Jesu s/t and Feedbacker by Boris so far so any links/recs based on that would be mucho appreciated

Blackwater Park - Dirt Box [1972]

definitely downloaded this because of the Opeth album of the same name, some pretty good foreign space rock in the vein of Deep Purple but this is apparently their only album so waah

Thornley - Tiny Pictures [2009]

first song sounded like Nickelback fronted by Chris Cornell, second song sounded exactly the same, previewed three other songs and they sounded the same too so i think it's safe to say i heard this entire piece of shit

earth - the bees made honey in the lion's skull - http://www.mediafire.com/?t4yetngyyy2

i'm usually just a straight doom guy not really drone but i have been listening to boris a lot lately
Tiz
ah shit i already have an Electric Wizard album and i havent even listened to it yet [Dopethrone], guess i should get on that, tyvm for other recs including the other Electric Wizard in case i like this

stoner/doom metal seems to be more to my taste in general though, but drone isnt something ive explored much of so thats why ive been trying it

John Frusciante - The Empyrean [2009]

"Before the Beginning" was a pretty great start but the rest borders on boring a lot

Junior Boys - Begone Dull Care [2009]

p fun synth pop, especially the first half
Tiz
Wavves - Wavvves [2009]

okay album, most songs were pretty indistinguishable from one another for me but its decent

Teeth of the Sea - Orphaned by the Ocean [2009]

really cool instrumental ambient music, metal-ish at times, i think i got this recommendation from a stoner metal/rock list but that wouldn't make that much sense considering this only vaguely resembles that kind of music at times, still very cool instrumental album
Trogdor the Burninator
black dice - repo [2k9]
merriweather post pavillion if it was a weird noise album. really good too
i expect pitchfork to deem it 'best new music' when it actually comes out
Tiz
Dan Deacon - Bromst [2009]

this is pretty off the hook, especially "Snookered", very appealing to me in a way that Marco Benevento's album last year was appealing to me, very fun record and my favorite this year out of what i've heard

Crippled Black Phoenix - The Resurrectionists [2009]

neat
Tiz
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz! [2009]
