Well my old power supply had been fucking up my pc, so now I need a new one. 450+ Watts sounds good to me. I don't really know much about power supplies though, or which brands are quality so I would like some suggestions in the price range of 40-80 shipped.

I am looking at a thermaltake one and I know the name is semi reliable but I know nothing beyond that. Thanks in advance.
Mr. Mojo Risin'
I've had this one in my green box of doom for a couple years now with no problems.

Go with Antec, Enermax, or FSP Group (or Fortron/Source). Those are the best ones around.

PA.
I'll second Antec, Thermaltake gave out on me after a year.

That's the fourth or fifth time I've seen Ultra V-Series power supplies given away for free. Every time I've seen horrid reviews of them.

I figured I'd just bump this.
I needed one for an old-ass HP machine as I mentioned in a topic near Thanksgiving. I bought one on Black Friday but it had more connectors or whatever than the mobo in the HP tower had.
What do I need to tell you guys about this old HP for you to be able to tell me what and where I can get a PSU for it?

As you realize from me making this topic I have no real smarts in the Power Supply area, but I went ahead and ordered a Thermaltake 430 watt from Newegg.com. It had so many positive reviews I didn't think I would have any issues and thus far its only done me well.

This is what I went with, Power Supply

Do you have a camera? Take a picture of the old PSU and mobo. Or find out what kind of motherboard you have.

um not sure on software to use.

Can't use software to check because it won't turn on. I'm not sure what to look for so I took some pictures.

It's pretty damn dusty down there, sorry. Case hasn't been opened or cleaned since we got the computer however many years ago it was.

I think it matters to mention that the two drives in it are PATA/ATA/IDE/whatever, not SATA.

So based on that last picture, I need a 20-pin main connector right? I just need to find a 250 watt PSU with that and IDE connections.
Master Bob
Which one did you get from Black friday? And you don't need to use all the connectors.

I forget, it was from Circuit City. I'm thinking it might have actually worked now.
But am I correct in assuming I need to get a matching PSU watts-wise and one that doesn't have SATA connections?
Master Bob
No more watts will work fine. And it can have whatever extra connectors you want as long as it has the ones you need.
