Duke lost last night, but all five of Duke's starters fouled out and only one player fouled out (wasn't that good...only had 5 points) on the other team...hell, the rest of Wake's team wasn't even in foul trouble. Suck my ball, Duke-ref-conspiracy theorists!
Seriously though, I'm not blaming this loss on the calls. Duke couldn't hit jack shit and Wake played out of their minds (which is pretty normal when a team plays Duke).

I still think Memphis is the best team int he nation regardless of their competition. THey still play decent teams. And this Memphis team did make it to the elite 8 last year and they only have gotten better with the addition of Derrick Rose.

Look at Memphis' schedule:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/teams/schedule?teamId=235Decent teams include Arizona and maybe Oklahoma? Uconn doesn't count because they were fucking awful at that time. Georgetown is really the only good team they've played. They only scored 56 against Tulsa, beat UAB by one point, ect. Hell they fucking played East Carolina...I'm from NC and I personally know that ECU's basketball team could be beaten by most high school squads.
I'm not "playa hatin" on Memphis. I think they're a good team, but it seems every other year we have a team that gets overhyped and then you look at their schedule and go WTF?
St. Joes=perfect example. They played ONE goddamn top 25 ranked team the entire season...and guess who that team was? Gonzaga. Another team that's hyped out the ass ever year.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/teamsched?te...seasonYear=2004I realize I'm biased, but Duke's SOS fucking trumps Memphis'. No. 13 Marquette, @ No 3 UNC, No 20 Wisconsin, No 23 Clemson, plus maybe this isn't as obvious to people who don't watch many Duke games but everyone gives Duke their absolute best shot. Compare Wake's best shot to a team like Houston...not even close.

Listen, I never said they play a better schedule than Duke, UNC, Ohio State ( I had to add the buckeyes

), I'm just saying they are undefeated still and they are still playing competitive teams.
Uconn had the same players now as they did then, that's still a quality win. Doesn't matter if they were hot or not. And who cares if they scored only 56 against Tulsa, a win is a win. Ohio STate in the big ten last year sometimes would only score in the 40 point range in some games, but they were still good.
REgardless, they are undefeated, have played some competitive teams and no other team in the league right now has a better record or even 1 loss record, so they should be #1.
I definitely understand your beef against them, but that's what the tourney is for.

If I said they are the best team in the nation I didn't mean it. I just said they should be number 1. There's a lot of politics invovled in rankings.
I think the best team in the nation is North Carolina. Hansborough (SP?) Has been averaging almost 29 points and 15 rebounds since Ty Lawson has been out. He's a fucking beast (too bad he'll suck in the NBA

I think Duke beating UNC was like getting high. You're filled with excitement and then after the high wears off (beating UNC), you're all tired and apathetic. That's what's happened to Duke. The last two games they've come out and just not cared. I think they've combined something for 40 something turnovers the last two games when before they had the best assist to turnover ratio in the ACC.
Duke will rebound...I just don't know if it will be good enough for a number one seed. UNC will have to lose another game for sure, maybe two.

He definitely has. OSU isn't known so much for basketball, yet he still manages to recruit great players the past few years. Roy Williams at UNC doesn't even have to go out of his way to get players...they come to him pretty much. Also, let's not forget he hasn't even been to a final four with HIS OWN players. And how about Rice laying down 34 points against UNC in the first fucking half the other day?! Wooooow...oh and teams continue to play like final four squads against Duke (latest ex. NC State). I know I shouldn't be surprised teams give Duke their best shot, but I'm still amazed when a team like State who lost 6 straight games prior go and score almost 90 points, 96% from the FT line AND shoot 60% from the floor. Duke was lucky to pull that one out.

I'll have to say it was an incredible game to be at though. Not so much the first half or the last 3 minutes, but that entire 2nd half stretch was insane. I had 2nd row center court seats too, I could have touched Hansbrough had I felt like it.
What pissed me off most about that game was the horrendous officiating both ways. 6 fouls called in the entire second half? What!?
Oh, and it's really obnoxious how Tyler always gets away with traveling under the basket. Some ridiculous no-calls as well on over-the-backs and fouls on 3-pointers coughScheyerTylerattheendofthegamecough

I've been trying to pin down the exact timing of our turning point, and I think I have to agree with you that it was after beating UNC @ the Dean Dome.

Yeah, Duke peaked in early February right after the UNC win.
Until Duke gets a reliable big man and gets a player who can take over a game, they're destined to be just another good Duke team. I started watching Duke basketball in the mid '90s so I know just how terrible Duke can be. They're no where near that obviously, but mediocrity is beginning to wear on most Duke fans, especially me. Duke hasn't had a great team since the days of Jay Williams,Battier,Boozer, ect. UNC has that caliber of talent every year. *sigh*

I just hate how contagious shooting slumps are. When one player is off, everyone else can't hit shit (except for Paulus in Duke's case). And yeah, Singler sucks lately. He has missed some HUGE shots that would've sealed a win for Duke. Oh well. Maybe he won't turn into JJ and suck at the end of the year.

I think our reliance on the 3 pointer is greatly exaggerated by both the media and opposing fans. When Gerald and Nolan are both healthy they can penetrate really well. Obviously Demarcus is fantastic at driving the ball. We don't really have a low-post game though. We do shoot a lot of 3's, and when we're hot we're really really tough to beat. But we've won plenty of games this year even when our 3-pointers aren't falling, the games we've lost were bad shooting games overall, both from beyond the arc and regular FGs.
20% beyond the arc is horrendous no matter how you spin it, it's certainly not "average" or "normal".
I don't know what the fuck Kyle's deal is but he needs to get himself together. He sure isn't looking like the ACC rookie of the year lately.
