Anyone see that Wizards - Celtics game last night?
zabean?
Apr 10 2008, 11:49 PM
yeah it was spectacular
wizards are very underrated, especially now that they're getting healthier.. jamison, butler, and arenas are a bigger big three than garnet allen and pierce. i know they gave the pistons a hard time a couple of games this season and im pretty sure this is their third W over boston this season, losing just once
if they make it past the cavs in the first round bostons gonna have to figure out a way to start winning against them.. and we really don't know if boston has a "next level" they step up to for the playoffs.

jason maxielle and the pistons just trounced all over em

I never thought the wizards were underrated...
They have played the last two seasons, including last years playoffs, without Carron and Gilbert......those are two fucking AMAZING talents to have off the court.
No wonder the Cavs got by them in the first round.
I think the Wizards are the 2nd-4th best team in the east behind Boston. Think about how well they have played with out their superstars....that's crazy.
You take away Kobe and Gasol, Paul and "...", Dirk and Howard" etc.....these teams aren't shit.
And let's be honest with each other, Gilbert Arenas has the same impact on a game as Kobe Bryant. ANd Carron Butler is good enough to be the number one talent on many teams around the league (including my chicago bulls). Throw in Jamison, probably one of the best low post scorers in the game...and STevenson...this team is set. They are clearly in the ranks of the Pistons and Celtics when it comes to having the right pieces of talent. IN fact, they are much more talented than the Pistons. (Detroit just meshes so well....)
it's a shame the injuries they have incurred in the last two seasons. Two years ago they were in my opinion the team to beat in the East with Detroit nearby.

Washington would get smashed by any Western playoff team.
zabean?
Apr 14 2008, 12:45 AM
didnt they recently go deep into OT against the lakers without arenas?
i never compare one team to a group of teams looking at who they beat and what their record is
one on one team matchups are a whole different story

The NBA playoffs are still a joke though. 1 conference is stacked with good teams on the same level, and the other conference has one or two good teams. There are teams that can make the playoffs with a fucking LOSING RECORD.

The Hawks thought they had a pretty good chance. Shiiiit, even if I played for Atlanta I'd know better than to think my team could take the Celtics. The Hawks aint no Warriors.

I feel bad for the Suns. First they get screwed last year by David Stern, then they go and make that retard decision to get Shaq just so they can beat teams like the Spurs, and no they find themselves down 0-3 after that embarrassing performance tonight. I also feel for Grant Hill. He's been through so much and I've followed his career ever since he played for Duke when I was a kid.
Did I mention I fucking hate the Spurs? I'm so tired of seeing Parker/his wife, Duncan's washrag personality and Bowen's old-ass. Here's hoping the Spurs get knocked out soon.

I was so surprised when I turned in the last few minutes of the Hawks/Celtics game. I figured Boston would sweep them. Oh and poor McGrady. Will he EVER win a playoff series? I don't think it bothered him before, but it's beginning to sink in that he may never win a playoff serious which would make him the most overrated "superstar" in the last several years.

NBA on a decline this decade? Tell me you're joking.
NBA was on a decline from 98 (post Jordan)-2004ish when Lebron, Wade, and Mello, Bosh all came into the league. The NBA is on it's way back up now.
I will admit that I do hate the dominance of the spurs in such a talent filled west simply because I hate foreign players (fuck Tony Parker and Manu, I hate, FUCKING HATE! flopping faggots, fucking them all) and their super stars aren't the type of stars I enjoy to play.
Making kids go to college was a key rule in making the NBA a lot more popular as well (although I'm opposed to the rule). Now people can see these stars dominate in college at their favorite/big name colleges rather than wait 3 years of sitting on the bench and waiting for them to develop. This way people anticipate young players rise to fame rather then not knowing who kids are and hearing them come to stardom after 3-4 years in the league.
I didn't see the Cavs/Wiz game tonight because I had to study for a test...but looking by the statistics it looked like a pretty sloppy game. The east is absolute shit. Both teams shooting under 40% or around for the Wiz. Not many assists...you can just look at the numbers and see how sloppy play is in the east....but that doesn't make the game not monumental. I did manage to see some highlights and it was close which constitutes as exciting.

I agree with all of that, especially the bolded part. Leave flopping to the pussy soccer players. I'm so sick of the Spurs too. Tim Duncan is a great player, but is about as bland as a wheat-thin. Please, oh please let the Hornets keep dominating.

I don't consider it much bigger than Warrior Mavs....Mavs had a better record than Boston.
I know the Hawks have a worse record but they are still an 8 seed, I'd say it's about the same, but that's just me.

I agree with most of this! But really, the Western conference is way too stacked. Any playoff team from the west would destroy most of the East. I think the problem was notably bad when Iverson moved to the Nuggets. Where is the balance? It feels like the finals are a joke, and you get the real series in round 1 or 2.

Dude, every sport has imbalance in their respective divisions.
Look at the MLB...the AL is headed by Red Sox, Yanks, Cleveland, Detroit etc....
The NFL is the same way (I know the NFC won the super bowl, but the AFC is way better)..New England, Pittsburg, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, San Diego....I think these teams could all be the number one team in the NFC. Aside from Dallas, now that Green Bay lost Favre, there aren't any serious powerhouses. ALthough I will give credit to the GIants to being on their way and this could be a breakout year onto something similar to the Pats over the last 8 years.
NBA is the same as you stated...the West is dominating.....but that's just this decade, anyone who has followed basketball over the last two decades would tell you that before these past couple of years....the East was the dominating....the Pistons earlier in the 2000s, and before then it was all Chicago, New York, Pacers, Atlanta...the West sucked donkey balls in the 90s. Aside from the two Houston teams that won (they wouldn't have won if Michael was still there) and the Jazz teams that got ruined by Chicago...the West sucked in the 90s. The Lakers were struggling till Shaq and Kobe came around....Phoenix had one solid year under barkley....but no one was any where near as consistent as the Eastern teams...THe west was up for grabs every year....look at the final participants....(I think this is the general order) Lakers, Blazers, Suns, Rockets, ROckets, Sonics, Jazz, Jazz, then finally in 99 came the Spurs/Laker years.
Anyways, what I'm getting at is that there has always been imbalance in every sport, but that doesn't detract from it. I agree however that a more balance league would be better...but come on, us fans will find something to always bitch about. (I'm not saying you're bitching about something stupid, because i agree with you on the imbalance sucking)

Damn, Chris Paul has come a long way from punching Hodge in the nuts at Wake Forest.
