Messing with warts is generally a bad idea from what I've experienced. They tend to come back and spread. I had one of my foot that I had a doctor cut off and freeze and it came back a few days later with half a dozen more.

I am reminded of this: I had a hangnail on my toe so I pulled it off and when it was growing back, the toenail grew in all funky and became ingrown. The doctor burned the fuck out of my toe with silver nitrate and it turned all black and was really hard and gross. The black stuff came off after a while and there was pus everywhere. It healed quickly, and everything seemed fine, but like a year later, the SAME thing happened. Except this time, I didn't have the money to go to the doctor so I preformed a home-surgery on my bitch toe and fucking dug the toenail shard out of my skin with a needly and a pair of tweezers. It left a very deep and large hole in my toe and took forever to heal over.

My old roommate did the same thing, except he got the whole thing on video. There was blood everywhere.

Yeah, the blood/pus was out of control. And the cut kept healing over and then ripping itself back open. Man, I wish I had thought to tape my experience. All I have are some pictures from after the doctor put the silver nitrate on my toe when it all first happened. They are pretty gross, but not as gross as opening my toe and pulling a renegade nail out of it.

...but oof, I couldn't imagine PULLING the sucker out. I went to the doctor and had some acidic stuff applied to it. The area turned black in certain areas but in a month it was completely healed and unnoticeable.

I was expecting a crazy picture because my screen was all stretched. I'm glad it was pretty tame.


btw: what's an ingrown toenail? like what exactly happens?

it's like an ingrown hair, where basically your toenail grows towards where like, skin should be, so the skin kind of grows around it and it irritates the skin and it generally becomes very unpleasant.

Yep. Basically, instead of growing over the top of my toe like a normal toenail, a piece of it (looking like a shard of glass from a broken something...it wasn't too big) grew right into my toe. So it pushed through the skin and made itself a little nest of pain inside my toe. The skin it pushed through healed over, so you couldn't tell by looking at it at first. But then the skin kinda puffs up and turns a yellowish color and it hurts if you touch it with ANYTHING. I couldn't wear anything but flipflops for months.

Hmm... anytime i get ingrown toenails I like to dig under the skin and find the piece and cut it with a toenail clipper.

It was pretty intense. Probably the most intense pain I've ever put myself in. The root was a good cm long, and very, very well attached to the muscle tissue in my hand, it seems.

That's an intense ingrown nail. Like, really intense. Mine have all been on the left/right sides of my big toe, so they were fairly tame.

I had one on my toe a couple of years back. I just froze the thing off, but it was painful. When it turned black and started to separate, but was still half attached. Ahhh. I just wanted to rip it off, but even barely touching it was bad.

Haven't had another one since, thankfully. The one time and hopefully the only time I get one.

I've been told and read that warts of any kind are caused by HPV, the same virus that causes warts in not so pleasant areas, but just a different strain. I'm not sure if you can transfer it to that area or not and then have them there, but maybe you should use a condom on your hand for a while.....
