I like how the genre sounds but not the cut your wrist lyrics. Any help with particular songs?

I think the genre you're looking for is pop punk. Try bands like Bad Religion, Pennywise, The Bouncing Souls, etc.

Or if you mean the bands that scream, check out some metalcore bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium.

Or if you mean real, Rites of Spring style emo, try old hardcore bands like Minor Threat and Black Flag.

If you give me examples of bands you like but the lyrics you don't I can help you out. Emo is too broad of a descriptor.

WTF?

He asks for emo bands that don't have stupid lyrics, so you recommend pop-punk and metalcore bands with stupid lyrics?

I like bands that sound like Hawthorne Heights but I don't like their lyrics. IDK if this counts but AFI. The Sleeping's song "Don't Hold Back" is also catchy.

The only way he defined "stupid lyrics" was "cut your wrist lyrics." I didn't really have much to work with. And from what he said in his last post, he would like those bands.

Anyway...it sounds like you need to get into some pop punk. Look around the Epitaph label and try pretty much any of the bands that were on the Punk-O-Rama CDs.

(Man, I remember loving those things when I was in middle school. Some of them really were quality comps.)

also check out The Starting Line, New Found Glory, etc. (pretty much any bands on Drive Thru Records)
