As of Thursday 00:01 GMT the Ratio Requirements will change as detailed in my earlier news post 2 weeks ago.

The new requirements will be:

Downloaded (GB) - Requirement
5 - No Requirement
5-10 - 0.10
10-15 - 0.15
15-20 - 0.20
20+ - 0.30

Expect your account to be disabled if you do not meet the requirements. You have all been given two weeks to improve your ratios. This will pave the way for the new ratio/contribution watch system in gazelle which will have even higher requirements.

I still have never been able to find a substitute for oink. Been using DC, or more often just not downloading stuff.

I did, it was up for a week and I told you about it, but I finally canceled it so I could invite others ~_~

no, that's correct. i've found it's helpful to download things even if you don't like them just to seed for the ratio. i've been doing that at both what and waffles, and have a good ratio at what, and a ratio at waffles that's steadily climbing, and of course I listen to the album at least once, who knows you might find something new that you like.




the requirements at waffles are even more lenient.

That is SUPER FUCKED. I've been purposely not downloading ANYTHING unless I NEED it--being scared that I might get banned. 4GB of music? AWESOME. I just wish my laptop wouldn't shut off my internet once the screen saver goes on so that I could seed all day.

I was like that on OiNK, and then I realized that as long as you seed the stuff, you're really in no trouble at all of being banned. a good thing I learned from OiNk was to make the requests page your best friend! vote for all the popular requests so you can hop on that ratio train as soon as it's filled

another thing i realized, because i'm not much of an audiophile is that i can't really tell the difference between FLAC and v0, but there is a large difference in file size, so if I download v0, I can get much more music for my ratio than I could if I downloaded them all in FLAC.

this could change if you're a major audiophile, but v0 works fine for me

If anyone could toss me a waffles or what invite, i'd be incredibly grateful, since the downfall of oink I managed to avoid finding new music that wasn't from my friends, but recently I started coming across new music that I can't find anywhere and a lot of it I can't find to buy either, so pretty please with bacon on top

I don't know who else here is a member of waffles, but I'm still lacking in the invite department, and will be, for a long, long time.


these are my stats:
Ratio: 0.53 Uploaded: 7.47 GB Downloaded: 13.99 GB

and the requirements for power user are something like minimum 25 gigs uploaded / 5 downloaded , ratio +1.05

you can change that

right click on the desktop, click properties, go to the screensaver tab, and click the power/energy button

Recent changes that have been made during the sporadic downtimes we've had in the past few days have brought the site to a level of stability we have never reached before. Because of this, we will open up a large chunk of invites to celebrate. Over 1000 invites have been opened at the time of this posting, and 1000 more will be opened after the scheduled downtime.

The purpose of the upcoming scheduled downtime(April 6th, 1:00PM EDT) is to make modifications that will allow several new features to be launched.

hey i just got banned from what.cd cause its fucking impossible to upload anything when every torrent has like 50/0 s/l, but whats their irc channel so i can go there and beg to get my account back?

Before you begin you'll need an IRC client. There is one available (freeleech) in the What.cd Toolbox (mIRC or xChat)

Next you'll need to set your personal IRC Key, which is set to a random value by default, and you can find it in http://what.cd/my.php. Be sure to save your profile when you're finished.

Connect to the server
IRC Server: irc.what.cd
Port: 6667 (6697 SSL)

irc.what.cd uses NickServ to reserve nicknames. Please reserve your nickname as soon as possible, and make sure your registered nick = what.cd username. You do this like so (password= pick a password you'd like to use):

Type in the bottom line of any window (where your cursor is)

1. /msg NickServ REGISTER password email
2. /msg bot invite #what.cd IRCKEY username

*note: You only need to register your nick once, and when you do you are automatically identified as well.

If you need help, type this in the bottom line of any window (where you cursor is). This will provide some information regarding correct syntax for communicating with nickserv.

/msg nickserv help

In subsequent logins to IRC you'll need to IDENTIFY before you can join the main channel, and thus the steps to joining will become as such (username= put your desired username here):

Type in the bottom line of any window (where your cursor is)

1. /msg nickserv identify IRCKEY username
2. /msg bot invite #what.cd IRCKEY username

Can someone send me an invite to SOMETHING! I don't care what, as long as it's a good music sharing site. waffles, what.cd, whatever...just not stmusic or whatever. That site sucks. I had an Oink account for two years and then they went down. Ever since then I've been using shitty sites like mininova or even...*gasp*ITunes!!!! So yeah, if any of you could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.
