So, Nas finally realized the only way to assert himself back into the public's eye was to stir up some controversy. According to Billboard, he announced that his new album would be called "Nigga". After his label denied such a claim, he agreed, saying it would in fact be called "Nigger".
Before settling on the name, he wanted to make a radio-friendly album, but changed his mind with the title and said he wanted to make something real.
Basically, he said his personal goal is to relieve the stigma of the word by making it more common in society. He wants it to be like cracker, which doesn't carry near the weight as nigger does, even though they're the exact same thing when you get down to it. I think it'll just have a negative effect similar to Chappelle's Show, because you can't get rid of a word's power unless you get rid of the reaction to it.
