I'm a sophomore, so this year it doesn't count. They want the kids in both the advanced math and english classes to take the PSAT as a sort of guide to what we might score next year when it counts.
Anything in particular that I should know?

This.
I also thought you were older lob, weird to know you and my bro are around the same age.
But yeah, the score thing is good to take into mind. Supposedly, you score within 200 points on your SAT what you had on your PSAT. It's probably not true, but from what I've seen of my friends grades and shit, it applies.

i'd heard it was easy from a friend's brother, but he scored like a 2300 on the SAT >_>
and yes, i know it doesn't count
but i'd rather not halfass it and then fail on the real one or something, so figured I'd check.

It does count. Do extra well and become a national merit scholar, and you will get scholarship opportunities and grant money from many colleges. I was offered numerous full rides just from a test I didn't remember taking--I don't know why schools do it like that.

I didn't know you could get scholarships as a result of PSAT scores. I remember not taking it, since they were going to remake the SAT anyway. I took the ACT, and got a respectable score.
I do know what you know about getting scholarships just because of a test, though. It's dumb, but convenient. :-/

I did hear about the national merit thing, but the counselor who talked to our class about the test told us:
Only the score you get in your junior year count. This test is just a practice for next year when we take them for real.
and yea, I'm younger than pretty much all of you.

At my school, the top Junior scorers were offered a chance to spend their senior year taking classes at a nearby college, I dunno about the merit scholar thing since only one girl in our year was awarded that.

eh, there were 5 sections
the first three (both critical reading and multiple choice math) i felt really good about, only skipped two out of all them (something like 75 questions overall)
the last two (math (half multiple choice/half not) and writing) were iffy. i think i skipped two or so here too, on the math part.
results come back in december, but i think i did pretty good, better than most of the people i was taking it with at least

If you feel ready for them, take them this year. This way you have 2 more years to re-take them if you need to.
