Just recently purchased a completely unlocked cell phone (LG KE970) from eBay, and am having major troubles getting the sucker to work. Can't connect to any networks, or send or recieve txts, or do anything, pretty much. CNet said usually the buyer is in charge of making all that work because the service provider (Cingular/at&t for me) isn't gonna wanna help you with a phone they bought.
Couldn't find anything helpful in the forums there, seemed like the only 4 or 5 topics about the KE970 were recommendations topics or about it's looks. I didn't even know what I was looking for on LG's website. Plus, CNet said that usually companies like Nokia will SEND you the right configurations via text message...but if I can't get txts, how does that work?

I don't want to sound harsh, but I'll say you're screwed.
As far as I know, you need the service provider to do that, granted there aren't any errors with the phone itself. The problem is that you need connections to get this done, since service providers hate unlocked cell phones.

I can't find it right now, but somewhere on the AT&T site they show you the correct settings for your Web Sessions thing or whatever. I just had to set that up like a week ago.

This is really late advice but in the past I have copied the details out of a friends phone for the same provider for the text settings. This gets you so you can get the stuff texted off the sites for internet settings etc. My provider texts the settings to you if you put your number in at their site. I am not sure what you would get from the phone makers that would make it work on a specific network.
Though I am wondering why you didn't give asking the provider a shot. They could maybe say no but it is kind of cutting off their noses to spite their faces isn't it?
