I have 2 desktops hardwired to my network. one is a dell, win xp pro, the other is a gateway, win 2000 and if it matters, dlink DI-524 router. I turn off the gateway when Im not using it cause I just use it for d/ling shtuff. I have a folder on the gateway hard mapped as a network drive (z:) on the dell so I can moves files to/from it. whenever I turn on the gateway, I cant access the mapped drive on the dell til I reboot, i get the following error:

An erro occured while reconnecting Z: to \\gateway\misc share (folder name)
MS win network: the local device name is already in use.
this connection has not been restored.

only way to get it to reconnect is if I reboot the dell while the gateway stays on. is there an easier way to reconnect the drive??? thanx

That seems normal. I would say the reasoning for not reconnecting the mapped drive is some compatibility error with Win XP Pro and Win 2000. That and maybe its a shitty router?
