So I have a laptop, I don't want to be tethered to the wall when I use my laptop. I bring an Airport Express to school, which is essentially a basic wireless 802.11b/g router. We aren't supposed to have the routers at school, but I know some people that have them. What follows is the e-mail I got from my school about the router.

James,

Your ULID has come up in a scan as being associated with a rogue wireless
device and/or router. When you signed up for ResNet you agreed to several
"Conditions of Access" - one being specifically that you would not connect
one of these devices to your ResNet port/ResNet kit. This email is a formal
warning to you to remove this device from your ResNet jack. Your jack will
be deactivated on Friday if this device is not removed.

When you have received this message and removed this device, please confirm
by emailing resnet@ilstu.edu. If you believe this to be an error, you are
free to contact me and we will re-run scans in your area or stop by your
room to confirm no such device is present.

Would anyone have any idea as to how to hide from them? By the way, my computer is the ONLY device connected to the router.
