I had trouble sleeping last night, so I marathon'd the first ten episodes of Darker than Black on stage6.

This is quite possibly one of the best anime I've seen in a while in terms of setting a definite mood and defined characters.

Sadly, there is one huge downside. You have no idea what the fuck is going on. Ever. There is absolutely nothing explained about the ten thousand different phenomena that are happening concurrently. However, the set up seems to intone a great conclusion assuming they don't "CONGRATULATIONS SHINJI" us.

I'd recommend it. Emotionless killers with badass powers that require odd upkeep (breaking fingers, eating flowers, writing poetry, and dog-earing book pages, to name a few). Has a Cowboy Bebop sort of feel--two episode arcs, usually focusing on the development of one of the main characters.

This is Mishicorp--I can't find any Shinsen streams of the earlier episodes. The translation is pretty shitty, but you can get the jist of it.

Yeah, DtB rules. What do you think Hei's penance is? I'm guessing it's that he has to break a person's heart or something, since he tends to do that a lot.

I was of the vague opinion that it might be vaguely connected to people around him either dying or dissppearing. It seems like everyone in the series that he gets slightly connected to winds up dead or missing. Though, Pai might be dead, not just missing. Can't say for certain. Havoc, Chiaki's doll, Nick... all died when they got close to him.

Hmm that might work. I wonder why the show takes longer than all other current anime to come out? It's only on 21 right now.

Holy shit, 23 and 24 are fucking epic.

23 was great. Gotta get 24 now.
