Snippets of new SM songs!
number one
number two
number three
More to come periodically in the weeks leading up to the album's release...
Due to unforseen circumstances, we cannot announce the precise release date of the album just yet (we're hoping next week..?), but we can say this: We begin our headline US tour on Nov 7th. Surely it would make no sense to play songs that no one has ever heard...

Also, to everyone that came out this summer to see us, AAA, RBF and LTJ, thanks so much for the support. It was truly a great tour, all around, and we are grateful to have been a part of it. Special thanks goes out to anyone who came out to a headline SM show in between the summer tour dates. The LTJ/RBF/SM lineup will be reuniting somewhere on the planet for a tour before year's end. Think "That's not a knife, THIS is a knife." We will give details as soon as we're allowed to.

Stay tuned also for details and show announcments for our winter headliner, as well as more song snippets, a proper and definitive release date, a whole new site, and a few surprises...

Wow, those samples are really small.

This news is fuckin' a rad, though.

Also, they're Streetlight, not SM. I was whotfisSMing.

Yeah, I did the same thing. Who the fuck is SM and why do I care? Wait, could he be talking about Streetlight Manifesto? *clicks*
LifeofX
I changed the title. I've been used to typing SM to refer to them on another forum so I didn't think about it.
Zoho Gorganzola
Sweet, hopefully I can get out to see them during this tour again. I think I've seen them like 4 or 5 times now and loved every show.

Also, those samples, way too short but very effective because I really want to hear the rest of the songs now.

I actually like that album art, strange and unrepresentative as it is.

From titles alone, I suspect that "Down, Down, Down To Mephisto’s Cafe" and "One Foot On The Gas, One Foot In The Grave" are going to have some interesting melodies/instrumentals.

*waits impatiently for release date/leak and tour dates*

"Watch It Crash" is godlike. I've been hearing that song teased for so long and hearing the full deal for the first time rocks so hard.

Those were pretty bitchin'.

What I'm really excited about, though, is the upcoming BOTAR album. I always liked BOTAR's style better than Streetlight's. Also, I don't know if it's true, but I used to have a version of Everything Went Numb that sounded more like BOTAR's style and I assumed it was by them. I don't know what happened, but at some point I lost it and was only ever able to find the regular Streetlight version afterwards.
Kefka
There's a new BOTAR album coming out too?? Rockin'.

I don't think it's really official yet but Tomas has said he's started it and it should come out soon but he also said this.

"But we're dealing with you-know-who here so expect it sometime before the end of our current decade."

First impressions:

This is a much more mature album, and I kind of like it that way. The songs aren't quite as easy to sing along to, but that's a good thing, because as much as I love Everything Goes Numb and the Keasbey Nights remake, I didn't want another album of singalong songs. There's a ton of different musical influences in this album as well...salsa, jazz, folk. It's pretty cool.

It'll take it a little longer to grow on me, but so far I'm really digging it. "Watch It Crash," "Would You Be Impressed" and "One Foot On the Gas, One Foot In the Grave" are great songs.

Anyone else notice that while the drums aren't quite as tight as the other album (due to that being a different drummer of course), the horn section is vastly improved? I'm loving it.
Loveless Aardvark
Damn, that's good.

I really, really want to see them on the 9th.
Kefka
Finally, I met a man with kindness in his eyes, and fire in his heart. He said you'll never have to choose a side - it's rewarding! But overall it's haaaard.

They're not even coming to Oregon much less Washington. sad.gif sad.gif

So far it sounds like it has a lot of potential, but I really hope this leak is unmastered, because everything sounds very flat and muddy. Unless it's just my computer/headphones, not sure.

Yeah the horn arrangements are much more complex and just better played overall. I love the album and I think the title track is my favorite. And it might be unmastered I don't know, but it's definitely not that high a bitrate so maybe that's it?

Album release party/show in Boston on the 13th is already sold out. I feel like hanging myself.

Just ordered tickets for the Philly show on the 11th, I'm seeing Streetlight and RX Bandits in the same weekend, skatacular!

I know, it fuckin' sucks. The closest they're getting is L.A., I think.

I don't understand it. Support the Northwest, too.

Which Bandits show? I am seeing Rx Bandits in Baltimore on the 7th, then again on the 8th in Jersey, and then the Streetlight show on the 9th. A week later, I am seeing Streetlight again when they come to Towson.

Just go anyway. I've never not gotten into a sold out show that I've ended up attending (then again, I kick ass). I tend to go alone because people are always with friends and when people have a way to get one person in, friends aren't gonna ditch their friends to get in, but BAM I GET IN. AND IT FUCKING ROCKS.

Then again, they're usually a little less popular than streetlight but the last one I went to had literally 20x as many people as I expected outside/in line/everywhere and I got in. Maybe I'm lucky though. It's worth a shot if it's close & maybe just a cool place downtown to go in case you don't get in anyway so you don't totally waste your trip.

Yeah, when they came to Seattle they definitely seemed to enjoy themselves and bands tend to mention how they like coming up here when I see them in Seattle. I feel like even if I wasn't from here, if I was touring, I'd definitely make it up to Seattle/Portland ESPECIALLY if I'm already going to cali! I mean fuck! Why not? Lazy asses. sad.gif

Has there ever been a concert where the band didn't say something like "Glad to be here in <insert name of town>, the ROCKIN'EST TOWN IN THE WORLD!!!!!"

Streetlight's thing is always to call the crowd the best no matter where they are (Youtube it) and then act like every song is the last one in their set.

Also, Kalnoky would make up dates for the new album to come out when he teased songs from it, usually saying "...tomorrow!"
