He's a libertarian running as a Republican with no chance. He advocates small government like the Republicans do, but he also advocates social freedoms like legal drugs and gay marriage, like the Democrats usually do. He's my second favorite candidate.
Most if not all of the Democratic presidential candidates fail to mention legalization of drugs in their platform.
Only a handful of Democratic contenders advocate gay marriage, advocacy of civil unions is more common.
Ron Paul is for state rights and to have states decide whether or not they approve gay marriage,
and I think he is against it. "Instead, I plan to continue working to enact the Marriage Protection Act and protect each state’s right not to be forced to recognize a same sex marriage."
