I went to his myspace/website and skimmed through his issues, he has some good things but he's pro life and a Republican so I'm also assuming he loves Jesus and hates gays. Do people only like him because he's for legalizing the sweet leaf?

He seems completely unremarkable. He just has good internet buzz and a bunch of tunnel-vision stoners who want to elect a guy who'll legalize marijuana before they get their third strike.

He is only big on the internet. He appeals to people for different reasons (Iraq war view different from Republican base, drugs, libertarian views etc).

He's a libertarian running as a Republican with no chance. He advocates small government like the Republicans do, but he also advocates social freedoms like legal drugs and gay marriage, like the Democrats usually do. He's my second favorite candidate.

Most if not all of the Democratic presidential candidates fail to mention legalization of drugs in their platform.

Only a handful of Democratic contenders advocate gay marriage, advocacy of civil unions is more common.

Ron Paul is for state rights and to have states decide whether or not they approve gay marriage, and I think he is against it. "Instead, I plan to continue working to enact the Marriage Protection Act and protect each state’s right not to be forced to recognize a same sex marriage."
