I'm trying to hook my PS2/Wii/Whatever into my monitor because my TV sucks. I don't have money for a new TV, and my monitor is HD and awesome. The monitor has DVI, VGA and S-Video, but no Component so I need a converter. Any recommendations, and can I plug it directly into my monitor or do I need to plug it into my video card? nVidia 6600GT video card, by the way. Thanks in advance.

You can find some cheap 3rd party cables for the PS2 and Wii that have s-video. For a wii example:

Besides those (or a composite to s-video adapter), the only other choice would be a component to VGA adapter. You would, of course, have to buy component cables for the PS2 or Wii (about $30 each) and buy the adapter, which runs at about $80. I have one adapter, and it works (I use it for my old xbox) but it does have a few color issues that are a pain to correct. But, once done, it works pretty good.

And can any of that be HD by chance?
Xaeser
Well, neither the PS2 nor Wii run natively in HD, no matter what type of connection you have. However, using the component to vga adapter will probably be the one to give you the best picture your going to get. But it still won't be HD.

Well what about for my 360 which I'm getting soon?
Orbital
if you have a premium you'll have vga cables so yeah you're good
Xaeser
What he said ^^^

The 360 has vga cables you can get pretty much anywhere. In fact, that's how I have my 360 hooked up right now, to my widescreen LCD. It has a really good picture and you can set the best resolution for your monitor in the console display settings. There's quite a few to choose from.

Found this link http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/video-to-vga.html

I think these would work, ya? http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/video-vga-gvm-2000.html

If not, what about a cable like this http://www.ramelectronics.net/assets/image...5-873-RCA-6.jpg
That would work if I could find a component cable that's female on both ends, ya?

your ps2 is gonna look like shit on your monitor dude, i don't even know why you're trying to get it on there. most ps2 games are 480i with a couple 480p games. playing them on a higher resolution display won't make them look any better. your tv should be totally fine to use unless there's something physically wrong with it :/

My TV is 18 years old.
Orbital
ahahah are you serious

Just kind of on topic but not really. Do computer monitors come with HDMI inputs yet? Just kinda curious and didn't want to make a dedicated topic.
Orbital
it's not the norm, no, but some do
Codeman
Would it have to be a massive monitor or just in the standard 17"-19". I know my 37" TV has got two.
Orbital
well obiviously any decent modern tv will come with hdmi jacks, but i think a lot of monitors dont have them since a lot of video cards don't have em either since there's no point since dvi is good enough and most monitors don't have speakers plus people wouldn't be using them for gaming if they did anyway...although I guess the same could be said about a tv's speakers, most people would be using a home theater set up or something.

well anyway, here are a few monitors that have got hdmi inputs, in various sizes:
