Out of all the masterful works to have come out of both the brain of Mayazaki, and Ghibili in general, what counts as your favourite?
For me, I'd have to say Spirited Away. No film I have seen has given me that wonderful sense of, well, innocence, combined with a rich tapestry of a story, and a degree of playful exploration that culminates in such a fantastic, honest story. It is also freakin' beautiful. The result is good.
And yes, the prompting for this poll is the fact that the DVDs of most Ghibili titles are ~£5 on special offer near where I live...

Howl's Moving Castle. The only ones I've seen, though, are that one, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, and Princess Mononoke. Mononoke was my second fav, for sure.
Everybody says Spirited Away is fucking rad. I got it from the library a while back, but only managed to scrape up the disc and get juice on it, did not manage to watch it.

-Spirited Away
-Howl's Moving Castle
-Kiki's Delivery Service
-Laputa: Castle in the Sky

I wasn't especially keen on Laputa - I don't know why, it just seemed a bit...too childish really. Probably the version of it - some of the dubbings that I've been subjected to can be truly awful. I've got the Castle of Cagliostro, and Whisper of the Heart lined up to watch - alas, without female company. Mononoké didn't really do that much for me - but spirited away just seemed to leave me smiling.
Each to his own!
