I'm thinking of moving over to Comcast. They're the ONLY company in my area who can (supposedly) offer me more than 1.5mbit without going to satellite.
I've been using Bit Torrent for a long time, just wanna know if moving to Comcast is a bad idea.
Thanks

moving to Comcast is a bad idea. ever since they bought my isp i've been getting all kinds of disconnects and general fuck ups, and from what i've seen on the Internet their service is like that in a lot of areas.

Comcast is great in some areas, but terrible in others. For example, in my area I hardly ever get disconnected and have a pretty consistent 8 Mb connection. My sister, who leaves only a couple towns away, also has comcast, but can't get a solid connectin, ever.
I don't think comcast forces you into any contracts and, as long as the one-time fees aren't high, give it a try for a month or two. And no, there are no problems with using torrents.

In Denver comcast is fucking fantastic. I did have problems with the actual line but they fixed that and credited me a full month's bill. I get incredible speeds in the middle of the city. I've gotten 1000+ kbs/sec from good torrent places.

As long as you use PeerGuardian you should be fine on BT trackers.
For extra security, stick to private trackers and avoid sites like Pirate Bay and Mininova.
