I don't know why you edit posts when you should just delete them and send a pm, I usually just re-edit them back without any notice
Well the editing is the first chance. Get caught re-editing and you will get warned.

Agree'd. I've never been modded, but I hate when I'm in a topic and some mod that thinks they're the wittiest person since Bill Maher edits someone's post (with green text or something, of course) to say something like "No" or "I'm a dumbass with no respect for authority" or "I'd like to be postbanned for 3 days" followed by "done' or something like that.
The colour coding normally lets you know who did it. That is why it is done that way. And as I pointed out already it is the chance before someone has to drop the modhammer on someone's head. It also serves as a warning for folks wanting to get started. Sometimes it is easier to do things that way that come along later and delete a pile of crap and hand out warns everywhere you know.
You do realise you are both requesting more severe modding don't you? You can of course but it does somewhat compromise your chances at legitimately complaining about mod abuse later I would have thought.
