OK, so I'm going to be ordering parts within the next couple days. Is there anything in here that doesn't look like it would work out/ should be replaced?
Master Bob
I'm pretty sure link doesn't work. you need to make "share list" easiest way tog et shared link is to share it to yourself via email and get the link from their. If you find an easier manner let me know.

OK, try that.

Wait a month before buying the cpu, intel is gonna price drop their C2Ds in July. The E6600 will cost $185 or so, it's much better than the one you currently selected.
Master Bob
Do you need a dedicated sound card?
Magicplayr
I got rid of the soundcard because I realized that the mobo had plugs for my 5.1 speakers. I made a few other little changes, and got it below 1000.

I'm planning on overclocking the cpu, and I was wondering about how far I can get it before i need more than stock cooling.
Master Bob
You have two rams there. and no idea on the OCing.

The E6600 was overclocked to 5GHz, so I'm guessing you should be able to overclock it to 3.4GHz with stock cooling, if not more.

For gaming and other graphics intensive applications, you'll always get better performance by taking the sound off-board. Overclocking is good for stretching out your e-penis, but in terms of practical use, you're much better off trying to find a happy medium between all the components of your system. A high number in your BIOS means shit when you're still not getting the framerates you can be.

If you really want to overclock, then you need to stress the cpu and gpu with applications like 3dmark that will raise the running temperatures of your components to ensure you're getting a capable setting at peak usage. Running too hot may not shut down the chips, but it sure as hell will slow them down.
