My parents are buying a laptop from the school store (Dell), and you can customize the ones they have. I want one with decent specs that won't be outdated completely by next year, but at a reasonable price. Here are my options:

Bolded are the ones included in the price

Computer is a Dell Latitude D820

PROCESSOR:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz) 4M L2 Cache, 667Mhz Dual Core [add $256.00]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7400 (2.16GHz) 4M L2 Cache, 667Mhz Dual Core [add $480.00]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7600 (2.33GHz) 4M L2 Cache, 667Mhz Dual Core [add $456.00]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5500 (1.66GHz) 2M L2 Cache, 667Mhz Dual Core [Included in Price]

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz) 2M L2 Cache, 667Mhz Dual Core [add $48.00]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GRAPHICS CARD:

256MB NVIDIA® Quadro NVS 110M TurboCache™ [add $48.00]

512MB NVIDIA® Quadro NVS 120M TurboCache™ [add $96.00]

Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950 [Included in Price]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RAM:

1.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 2 DIMMS [Included in Price]

1.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 1 DIMM [add $16.00]

2.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 2 DIMMS [add $152.00]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It comes with an 80 gb hard drive, but I was planning on buying an external hard drive, anyways.

I won't be playing A LOT of games (maybe I'll put CS:S on it or something), but I will be online a lot and doing normal things.
Master Bob
get the:
1.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 1 DIMM [add $16.00]

That way if you want to upgrade your RAM you can easily do it.

The Intel 950 thing or whatever cannot play Source. Its not a quality issue, its a random lockup during HL2 based things issue. Not sure if it will ever be fixed though.

Yeah I heard from my friend that this is more of a work computer than an all-around computer.

SUGGESTION? I guess Dell is more trusted by my dad, but any will do sad.gif
Orbital
well it is a quality issue too since integrated graphics are all fucking garbage for games :x
