So I've never built a computer before, but with the chip prices falling and my new income I want to get a new rig. I've done lots of research, but I'm far from being an expert when it comes to choosing parts.

Here's what I have chosen:

If you could look over the parts and perhaps suggest better parts or alternatives, please do. I would like some second opinions before pulling the trigger. Price isn't much of an issue, as much as bottlenecking is. If there are parts that aren't compatible or theres a part that will reduce the potential (bottleneck) more than an alternative let me know!

Thanks guys!

looks good I guess. I don't see any problems with it

Thanks, anyone else?

I'll recommend a different mobo & PSU:

mobo - Asus P5N-E

psu - Corsair HX520

Master Bob
any specific reason for the different mobo/PSU?

I'm a fan of nvidia chipsets and the new 650i/680i boards are very nice and highly rated. Of course, the intel 965 is a proven chipset as well, so either one is fine. The 650i board is $50 cheaper and has SLI if he ever decides to go that route, and the 965 based board has 3 additional sata ports. I'd save the $50.

The PSU because it's just plain better. I've got the 620W version, and it's sexy. High efficiency (at 50C, while the coolmax numbers are probably at 30C), modular cabling, more power on the the +12v rails (lol that coolmax has 60A on the +5v, that's where the inflated wattage comes from), just plain better built. Read the newegg reviews or look up some reviews on the Corsair HX psus, they're fantastic.
