Master Bob
Recently I have been having spinach salads with some carrots, corn, and chick peas. I use oil and balsamic vinegar(the black one) as my dressing.

I sometimes have onions and peas as well.

Seconded.

Lettuce, spinach, red onion, green pepper, red pepper, black olives, and chicken. With a small amount of garlic vinegrette.

I like my salads with chopped raw garlic in them. I like balsamic and oil. But sometimes I will be lazy and use italian or roasted garlic pre-made dressings.

Though nothing beats a homemade ceaser salad. My Uncle makes the BEST ceaser!

What's the good kind of lettuce and how do you identify it?
Mormegil
Spinach, romaine lettuce (the good kind, dark green, leafy), sliced carrots, parmesian cheese, diced chicken, croutons, flax seed oil, and balsamic vinegar.
Grimes
Romaine, spinach, chicken, real and fresh delicious bacon bits, croutons, bleu cheese/feta cheese crumbles, some kind of dressing on the side.

Occasionally I'll go nuts and add some mandarin oranges and use an asian dressing.

I like to make my own dressing. Balsamic vinegar, a little bit of extra virgin olive oil, some mustard, a package of Splenda, and some vanilla flavoring. It's the best thing in the world.
The Clown
Green lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions, (though regular ones work in a pinch) fresh minced garlic, broccoli, chopped carrots, green pepper roasted sesame seeds, basil, parsley, poppyseed, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and a home-made vinaigrette dressing. (half red wine vinegar, half olive oil, 1 tbsp tarragon leaves, mix together and pour over.)

Boston lettuce is good! Here are some of the toppings I like on my salads, but never all at once because that just spoils it!

"Good" lettuce: Romaine, Boston..
endive
tomato (cherry, not grape, or a big fleshy one)
feta cheese
smoked mozzarrella (good with just tomato and balsamic vinegar and basil)
basil
dried cranberries
broccoli (cut in small heads please)
carrots (shaved only) or baby carrots if you must
croutons (I love the homemade ones with dill..)
cracked black pepper and sea salt
artichoke hearts (not heavily marinated or oily- messes with the overall flavor of the salad)
sugar snap peas
red pepper
sundried tomato
and my mom's homemade Balsamic dressing!

My favorite salad is the spinach salad that I get at the restaurant where I work.

Loads of spinach, some roasted tomatoes, and a couple jumbo scallops on top. So good, it doesn't even need dressing.
Ender Wiggin
Spinach, red onion, red and yellow bell peppers, feta cheese, chicken if I have it, olive oil and sometimes balsamic vinegar.
The President
Low-Carb buttermilk Ranch.
