Full Version: I'm having trouble sleeping these days

It just seems that no matter what I do I have to lay there uncomfortably turning and tossing for a few hours before reaching the optimal state of (dis)comfort needed to fall asleep. I've tried exercizing, relaxing, waiting until it's really late, going to bed early, drinking hot milk (EW!), jerking off before bed ...nothing works.

Damn, this sucks.

So, what do you do to fall asleep faster, 404?
Paraphen
Beer
Xanax
Whiskey
Spending 12 hours making boxes
Staying awake 24+ hours
Eating a lot of food at the optimum time before bed. I don't know what the optimum time is, exactly, I haven't really tried to work this out, but generally if I eat at dinner at my parent's house and eat a bunch of food, then go to bed sometime within the next couple of hours, I go out pretty quick. But if i go to sleep too soon, doesn't work.

I honestly don't know. I go through the same thing, its like I just lay down with my eyes closed until I get lucky and sleep takes me

I usually take one of my anti-histamines. They knock me out. I forgot to take it today. So it is now coming up on 5am sad.gif

Smoke some weed? Haha, nah, I'm sure you've tried that.

Personally, I count backwards from 200, and well, the rest is kind of in my mind and way too hard to explain in text. I generally will feel the sleep kind of creep up on me past certain numbers, though, and I can tell if I'm going to be able to fall asleep or not. If my counting shit doesn't work after a few tries, I give up because lying there restless makes it even worse than just getting up for a minute... I usually get something to drink, stretch, and chill doing whatever for a little bit and then try to sleep again.

As for chemical assistance, when I have weed, if I'm not stoned and I smoke just enough to get a nice little buzz it helps me get to sleep... but before that I usually just take melatonin sublingually. Melatonin ftw. It doesn't make me more tired, like, I could take it and end up doing something besides bed and I won't be tired, but if I take it and then lie down, even though I don't feel more tired, next thing I know it's morning.

usually to fall asleep, I put on some classical music... that stuff knocks me the fuck out.

When I'm on a regular schedule, I have the same problem as you, but because I'm at college I just sleep when I feel like it. I generally alternate between getting too little and too much sleep.

I've always had trouble sleeping, my whole fucking life. These are the things that help me.

Weed- If I smoke any amount then smoke a cigarette then lay down I can usually fall asleep no problem.

Benzos- Any of them. They knock me right out.

3 Shots Alcohol- If I take 3 shots and lay right down I can usually pass out easily.

OTC Sleeping pills- If I take them, wait 30 minutes and lay down they work, sometimes. Sometimes I'm kept up on them and I'm just sleepy and out of it, but still can't fall asleep on 'em

RX Sleeping pills- I've only used a few different kinds a few times. I find that they do their job, but usually have too many side effects to them. Benzos work better anyways.

Chocolate Milk and a Meal- If I eat something warm and hearty it helps. I usually have milk and a fried pb and j sandwhich. Wait 30 minutes and lay down.

Working your ass off all day- I can fall asleep fine this way.

Welcome to my world. It takes me one to two hours every night to get to sleep (same reasons you've mentioned). Warm milk is suppose to help, I've never tried it though.

This isn't a bad idea.. I might try this. Anti-histamines definitely make you loopy and less conscious.

Almost all OTC sleep meds are anti-histamines.

i know the sleeping troubles all too well... it seems to be triggered by my job though. i actually have to take sleeping pills to sleep most of the time.

i went to the doctor for a prescription for lunesta, but it wasn't covered by my insurance, so thankfully, my co-worker had 100 pills that she sold me for $15 bucks (they weren't strong enough for her, so she got something much stronger) they work like a charm, i swear. on nights where i know i need a good sleep (like before work...) i take one and make sure i have at least 8 hours to sleep. the next morning, i feel like i slept a year and i'm not all sleepy or anything like i would be if i didn't take it.

i have taken it with only 6 hours of sleep one time. i don't recommend it. i was wandering around in a daze all morning.

or, you could always smoke a big fat bowl. that always works for me when i don't have lunesta or don't want to take it.

Apply some leeches. You'll be exhausted pretty quick. Besides, your problem clearly stems from having too much blood.
