404 Burger Club
IPB Image

I'm making another frivolous club on yet another board. This is going to be simple, you become a member by submitting your own special burger recipe, it can be simple or complicated, but it should taste good. Include your username in the name of your burger, each recipe will be put into this Opening Post for easy reference. So, follow along, I'll start first. I got a giant bag of hamburger patties from Costco along with my George Foreman Grill, so I'm gonna do my best to try as many of these as possible. Without further ado:

FC's Guacamole Burger
Notes: This doesn't have many parts, but I think it tastes quite nice.
Ingredients: half of an avocado, salsa, seasoned salt, mayonnaise
Directions: This is a short one, take your half of avocado and fork it out into a small bowl (if you're just cutting the avocado, use the side that doesn't have the pit, the half with the pit will stay fresh longer, so put that back in the fridge for later use). Crush the contents up into a thick paste, then mix in a small amount of salsa, followed by a healthy sprinkling of seasoned salt (if you don't know what Seasoned Salt is, just ignore it, it's not regular salt). So, now you have a small bowl of guacamole. Cook your hamburger. Take your hamburger bun (or bread) and put mayonnaise on the bottom bun, along with a dash of salt/pepper. Put the cooked burger on top, then cover the burger with your guacamole. Stick the top bun on and you're ready to go. Goes good with tortilla chips.

Your turn.
Grimes
Grimes' BBCHS Burger
Ingredients: Bacon, bleu cheese crumbles, hot sauce, garlic powder, black pepper
Directions: If using preshaped hamburger patties, put them in a large plastic bag with hot sauce, garlic powder, pepper, and any other seasonings of choice and get a decent coating going. Fry up your bacon while your hamburger cooks. When the burger is close to finished, add the bleu cheese crumbles to the top of the patty so they melt. Add a healthy amount of hot sauce on top of the bleu cheese, let sit for a few more seconds to warm up, then remove and put it on your bun. Add the bacon and enjoy.

Because I'm not even sure if I have any, recommend a brand of hot sauce?

Depends on your taste really. If you're just a casual hot sauce fan, I'd say just something like Texas Pete. What you really want is one that's got a good flavor, rather than solely a spicy factor.

For casual/mild stuff, Texas Pete and Frank's Red Hot are good. I think they both add flavor and a bit of heat. I really liked Jim Beam's hot sauce and the brand that makes the small bottles of hot sauces from different areas of the world with the people's faces on the covers.

Jaime's Standard Kosher burger
Ingredients: Mayonnaise, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, olive oil, salt and pepper, a drop of vinegar if you like.
Directions: None really. Cook your burger with a little salt, add mayonnaise and pepper on top and ketchup under, a couple of slices of tomato - you can also cook the tomatoes if that's your thing (it's mine), add the lettuce on the mayo side, oil and vinegar on the lettuce, and dig in.

Jose Garcia hot sauce is the best hot sauce around, if you can get it in yr. parts

edit: it's Joe T Garcia, not Jose Garcia

THE ANGUS

This one's a monster, baby.

Ingredients:
1 1/3 lb. Angus beef patty (but why would you get just one?)
1 jumbo bagel (again, why would you get just one? (Go for the onion flavor, if that's your bag (lol pun (too many parentheses))))
cheese of your choice
a slice of red onion
a few slices of tomato
pickles
sliced pepperoncinis
lettuce
mayo
spicy mustard
Frank's hot sauce (my personal preference, use whatever hot sauce you like)

Directions: Take the Angus patty and grill it/fry it/bake it/nuke it/whatever, and apply cheese liberally and without remorse. Let it melt as you toast the bagel (careful not to let it get too golden and crispy or this thing will never fit in your mouth) and slice up your onions and tomatoes (and pickles if you have whole dills). Once the bagel pops up spread a thin layer of mayo and sprinkle hot sauce on the bottom bun. Apply your lettuce and tomato (I prefer my tomato above the patty...this is one is really up to you, though), place the ooey gooey melted patty next, then add your pickles and onions. Spread spicy mustard on the top bun and stick your pepperoncinis to it, so that when you put it on the peppers stick to the bun and don't try to escape from the clutches of the Angus.

Cut in half, 'cuz this thing can be pretty unwieldy. Take a big bite, grin as you wipe the juices off your chin, and give a hearty middle finger to Burger King.

Nice ones. I've been working through some homemade versions of different fast food places. Thousand Island burger last night, and a standard mustard/ketchup cheeseburger a few days back.

Someone should do something with BBQ sauce.

I had Red Robin's Whiskey River BBQ Burger last sunday, it was very good... I forget what was on it now other than BBQ sauce though. sad.gif

FC's Guacamole Burger

That.. sounds.. realllly fucking good, I'm going to do this.
The Clown
Nate's Burger (Sorry, Foreman grill wont work for this one...you have to use a standard frying pan. This recipe is for one burger. Also, it's preferable to use high quality spices here, as otherwise it'll be very salty.)

Ingredients:

Ground beef
Seasoned salt
Paprika
Lemon pepper
Crushed red pepper
Worchestershire sauce (however the fuck you spell that)
Pickle juice

Line the bottom of your frying pan with pickle juice. Use as much as you want, but at last have the bottom of the pan lined in it. Add 1 tbsp W sauce in with the juice and mix it. Pat our your burger, put it in the pan, and season ONE side with a pinch of each spice. Don't use that much...less than a teaspoon for each. You don't want it to overpower the beef. Keep the frying pan covered and cook until the burger is done. (tip: poke a hole in the middle with your finger. It'll cook the burger throughout without burning it and without you having to flip it.) Drain the mixture of sauce, juice, and now burger grease, serve on a bun with your favorite toppings.
