I don't even know where to begin. I suppose the biggest thing is that the GD boards are going to be back up shortly. Or, supposedly. I suppose something could go wrong and they won't be back up shortly. Anyway, the POINT is that they aren't gone, by a long shot.

Strange that IO was so quick to make a new forum, seeing as we had an AIM convo where I made this fact clear to him.

I wouldn't worry too much, Oro. It isn't really the same situation as in the past, because then you were returning to 404, an independent community. Now you'd be returning to GD.

Well it wasn't really a power grab, more so then Morm had made the forums and I was like admin me.

I am just happy we are a strong enough community to gather ourselves together when we ended up homeless and even managed to dig up old faces too. Well done us.

It is up to us where we choose to do that but I like our community and I hope we stick together.

(I have to say I am not sure what you expected to happen Justin. The boards vanished and we all clearly wanted somewhere to go to. Did you expect everyone to sit F5ing Gamedaily because you told a few people on aim the boards were coming back? I don't think power grabbing came into it more us being internet creatures of habit.)

The feeling seems to be that people want to stay here. All the other times it was just 404 being down, they were always backup boards. This time, the forums going down was the impetus that finally got someone to make new, independent forums like everyone wanted. Remember the topic on GD that asked whether we wanted to go back to filenotfound when AOL bought GD? Everyone wanted to. Well, that's what this is.

Dei, what did I *expect* people to do? I didn't *expect* anything. The timeline of events went something like this:

1) People start IMing me, asking about the forums being down.

2) I IM GD/AOL asking what's up.

3) They tell me "Oh, everything will be up soon. Sorry about the confusion."

4) I say thanks for the FYI, and get back to work.

That's been the gist of it. This hasn't been MY community in months and months. But I don't need to tell you that.

I'd rather stay here than go back to GD. Nothing against GD/AOL, but something about this place just feels like home. Hopefully it lasts.
