I have a few albums uploaded (originally for LUElinks) and I thought I'd share them with everyone in this topic. The majority of the albums are super rare 80s new wave/synthpop albums, the others are rare 70s prog/psych. Most are vinyl rips that were never re-issued on CD. If you have any specific requests (albums/genres), let me know and I'll do my best to fulfill them.
Please let me know what you think! I'd like to upload more but I need to know what everyone likes and wants.
Rare New Wave/Synthpop Albums:
KIEM - KIEM (1984)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HMFH7TLL
[RAR, 36.89 MB]
This is the first album in what will probably be a bunch of rare 80s albums I upload.
This is the debut album by a Dutch trio named KIEM who created their odd songs with only a vocalist, a synthesizer, a saxophone and metal drums. In Dutch, KIEM stands for Klank Improvisational Elektronische Muziek, which roughly translates to Improvisational Electronic Sound Music. It was released only in Holland in 1984 and has never be re-released. It's avant-garde/new wave/synthpop and sounds a lot like "caveman music." The singing is in English, the best tracks are "It's Working" and "April Afternoon."
TREES - SLEEP CONVENTION (1982)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2PITZ93H
[RAR, 53.36 MB]
Taken from nwoutpost.com's review section for Trees - Sleep Convention:
Without a shadow of doubt the most under-rated and under-recognized new wave synth-pop album of all time. Dane Conover -- still writing and recording great pop out of his home in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California -- put this masterpiece together at Earle Mankey's "Garage" in Thousand Oaks, CA and released it on MCA with little notice (except for a well-rotated music video on MTV for the lead-off track 'Come Back'). As the previous commentator said, if you see SLEEP CONVENTION in the rack somewhere, do not walk, RUN to the cashier with this disc in your hot little hands, and be HAPPY to pay WHATEVER they are asking for it! An absolute MUST HAVE.
Great overall kickass new wave only released on vinyl and (as far as I know) never re-released.
BELFEGORE - BELFEGORE (1984)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SDNXGJ9T
[RAR, 61.02 MB]
From Lost Bands of the New Wave Era:
Belfegore was an international metal trio led by Germany's Meikel Clauss that released one indie album called "A Dog Is Born" and one major label self-titled release on Elektra. "All That I Wanted" was the track promoted to radio in America and came along with a music video that featured the band running on a pier on New York City's West Side. The clip was directed by Oscar winner and High Definition Video pioneer Zbig Rybczynski. Belfegore quickly fell away into obscurity but their influence on the Goth and progressive rock bands that followed is undeniable.
From TrouserPress:
An American bassist, a Canadian drummer and a German guitarist made up this unique crypto-metal band, a strange incident of subversive musical activity. Belfegore was produced by Conny Plank, the krautrock icon who went on to work with Ultravox and other new wavers; the band's first video was directed by Zbigniew Rybczynski directly after his landmark Art of Noise clip. Musically dark and energetic, Belfegore bypasses metal's clichés for a somber intelligence that has common ground with everyone from Motörhead to Joy Division. Fascinating.
Also see this article on Belfegore at The Mick Sinclair Archive.
I personally don't consider Belfegore a metal band at all. They're more "darkwave" or "coldwave." They were one of the more popular of the bands I'll be posting albums from. Their "hit" single, All That I Wanted, even got some MTV airtime. It's by far the best song on the album as well, so I've included and extended mix and remix of it in addition to the album. You can find more on them (and how their singer stole all the money from the album from the other two in the trio) by simply Googling them.
PSYCHOTIC PINEAPPLE - PSYCHOTIC PINEAPPLE (1980)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HSR20FLF
[RAR, 34.63 MB]
Psychotic Pineapple is a weird ass band. From the fragments of Googling I've been able to put together, they were an American new wave/punk band. It appears that members of the original band still perform today (all in their own new bands). The album was released in 1980 and has been reissued on CD by the band's label. This rip is direct from the CD (I believe).
The singer's voice is VERY nasally, be warned. It's goofy and synthy but really catchy. The best songs are "I Wanna Wanna Wanna Wanna Wanna Wanna Wanna Get Rid of You" and "I Forgot Who I Forgot Who I Was."
BELOUIS SOME - SOME PEOPLE (1984) AND BELOUIS SOME (1987)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1IVQRIVO
[RAR, 169.66 MB]
From Wiki:
Belouis Some (born Neville Keighley, 12 December 1959), is a British new wave musician. He had a few minor hits in the 1980s with "Some People", "Round and Round", (which appeared on the soundtrack album to the film Pretty in Pink), plus "Imagination", which reached #17 on the UK Singles Chart.
This was a request. The albums MAY HAVE BEEN re-issued to CD, but I've never seen them and would imagine they're quite hard to find/expensive. Enjoy.
ESPIONAGE - ESPIONAGE (1983)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7YBY0DTE
[RAR, 77.33 MB]
This is the debut album by a synthpop quartet, produced by the legendary Roy Thomas Baker (Cars/Queen/etc.). It's super-synthy, full of all-out 80s synthpopness. Their biggest, still very unknown/underrated hit is "The Sound of Breaking Hearts," the best song on the album. I believe the album was re-issued on CD years ago, but I've never seen a copy. Espionage did later release a second LP (now as only a duo), 1987's ESP. I can upload it if I get positive feedback from this one.
Rare Progressive Rock/Psychedelic Albums:
ZOLDAR & CLARK - ZOLDAR & CLARK (1977)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T95W5W3V
[RAR, 67.48 MB]
This is a very rare 1977 progressive rock release. A friend of mine dug out his very old record collection, ripped this, and sent me a copy. I've found some very limited information on the band via Google. I've only seen one copy of the record for sale in the past, for $300. There MAY be a CD copy, but I can't find any evidence of a re-release aside from a Japanese version (but I do not know if the Japanese version is the original LP or a CD re-release).
I hope all the prog fans will enjoy.

ANANTA - WHEELS OF TIME (1978)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=733URUS0
[RAR, 62.6 MB]
This is a great rock/psych/prog album I picked up in a record shop for $1. I personally ripped the album, but there may be a few cracks or pops.
From Wiki:
Ananta is a Sanskrit word meaning "without end," or the "the infinite one." Ananta was a spiritually based progressive rock band fronted by Ilan Chester.
The music sounds like a mish-mash of a lot of 70s bands, but I couldn't pick just one that's similar to them.
This has never been re-issued on CD and is quite uncommon, but copies do exist and can usually be found for just a few dollars. This is the second of Ananta's three LPs. Unfortunately I do not have the other two (one is earlier, one later).
