Full Version: Beeping smoke alarms

mine has been beeping randomly every minute or so all night and I couldn't find a way to turn it off. The battery is a backup so it still works when I take it out, and I can't disconnect the wires. Help me.

I assume the reason you can't disconnect the wires is that you live in a dorm room or something. If that's the case, tell your RA and let them deal with it.

It means the battery is low. Replace it.

Thanks, gonna have to go buy one now, I guess.

My mom's smoke detector has been doing that for 2 years, even after changing the battery. They've learned to live with it.

I'd smash it with a hammer. Smoke alarms are useless.

That's what I would do but I'm leasing this apartment and would have to pay for it when I move out.
