Gregory Maguire is the Author of:

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (yes, the Broadway musical is loosely based on the book)

Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister

Son of a Witch

Lost

Mirror, Mirror

I believe that's it. I read a lot about him and thought the books sounded interesting. I took a trip to the Library Monday (the 8th) and checked out a few of them. I started with Mirror, Mirror, and I was not impressed. I don't want to judge the rest of his books by just one, but it is really hard not to, as I reeeeeeeeally didn't like it.

I was wondering if anyone else has read any of his stuff and can tell me if they liked it and why, because I have heard so many good things about Maguire, it seems a shame for me to give up so soon. I don't, however, wish to waste my time on shit, so I'll give up if I feel it is necessary.

Wicked was interesting, but I can't say I didn't have my problems with it. I don't think I'll be reading anything else by him anytime soon, though.
Grimes
Just read Wicked. I was familiar with the story of the musical, which I thought was a pretty cool spin on a classic story. The book makes that look like a pile of gay. They really bastardized a good book for the sake of appeal, furthering my (already deep) hatred of musicals and the culture around it.

I'm certainly not the biggest reader around these parts, and the book is slow at parts, but ties things up nicely towards the end. I recommend it.
