Simple format, we're not going to do any day trading, buying and selling will be handled according to the last closing price. All you have to do is make a post in this thread saying which stock (give symbol) you want to buy (or sell, if you've previously bought it) and how many shares you would like the transaction to entail. Also, to make things easier, you can include the current closing price of the stock and the total transaction sum. IE: "Buying 1000 shares of Superporn Inc. (XXX) at $6.50 per share. Total: $6,500.00".

Sounds simple, yes?

Newcomers are free to join in on this late. If everyone else loses money, you can win by simply not making any investments at all.

[Archive] Another club attempt, because this board could use some added activity. As for now, I'm scanning for interest in a stock club. It will probably involve being allotted a certain amount of fantasy money at the start of the year which you'll be free to invest with as you please. Then at the end of the year, you can see who made/lost the most with their fantasy money. Maybe we can figure out some sort of prize for the winner, who knows.

So, there aren't any details worked out, but if even just a small group of people are interested, we can figure out how we wanna go about this.

For now, post if you have any interest in this and any suggestions.

fake stocks like a fantasy football league?

fuck that, lets start an herbal medicine pyramid scheme and rake in some real dough

I got a bad credit rating that needs fixing

I'm doing it right now in my economics class. I made 1000 the first week and have lost 200 since then.
Brent Black
I'd be down.

Dude we have a topic in here about celebrities and the only one really keeping this place alive is about drug legality, not to harp on it but it isn't that meaty of a subject.

Stock simulations are so easy. I scored a nice 12% ROI overall in a 3 month period last time.

Yeah, sure.

P.S. The real money is in penny stocks naughty17hs.gif

Agreed. As long as the transaction "costs" aren't too high, or you're willing to take a gamble, penny stocks are the way to go.
Joff
SELL, SELL, SELL!

I'll re-read this when I'm sober, I might be interested.

I know next to nothing about stocks, but I'd probably try it

Why the hell not? Is there a website for this, like fantasy sports?
Scorched Earth Policy
yeah I'd try it, lets get this going

It's 2007, the game is on. Feel free to approach it at any speed you wish. You have 1 year to make some monopoly money. Rules and stats are up top.

Wait, are we allowed to invest in "foreign" markets? My NYSE knowledge is obviously not on par with that of the TSE.

I'll start looking into my portfolio. No hurry, the really good stocks don't jump in your face right away.

Well, I just need a way to keep track of the money in the same currency ( US$ ), but I guess you guys are free to invest in any market, assuming you're doing accurate conversions and such and can provide links to that stock index.

Buy - 50 shares of VE @ 75.26, total of 3,763

Why aren't we using http://vse.marketwatch.com/Game/Homepage.aspx out of curiosity? This seems like too much work.

EDIT: ^^^ Didn't mean for that to sound prickish, although it may have anyway. I didn't want to step on any toes while this thing was getting setup, but the way you have it set up leads to a sort of pseudo-game based on stocks rather than a stock-market game.
Master Bob
I'd like to hop on this game if possible.
