Teamspeak has horrible quality compared to Vent. =/ Also out of curiosity, how much does Vent cost?

The Pro version of the Ventrilo server can not be downloaded. It requires that we accept your application and that you sign and return the Ventrilo license. However, we do not license everyone.

In order for an applicant to be considered you must meet the following minimum requirements.

1) You must have a legitimate business license in your state, country or jurisdiction. Please be prepared to provide proof when requested.

2) You agree to a 1000 slot minimum. Slot counts greater then 1000 are billed at the per slot rate for the total number of slots hosted. Slot counts below 1000 are billed at the per slot rate with the required minimum of 1000 slots.

3) Licensee's slot counts are expected to grow on a regular basis.

We do not license individuals or businesses who wish only to run one or two standalone servers. In these cases you will need to rent a server from one of our official licensees on the hosting page.

If you do meet the basic requirements please send us an email at license@ventrilo.com and include the following information:

Business name.
Business address.
The full name of the business owner.
Your full name.
Your title in the company.
An official company phone number where you can be reached.
URL to company web site.
Official email contact address.
Number of employees.

Please include an explanation on how you intend to use the product and in what countries.

All license applications will be reviewed, however, due to the volume of applications we receive it may take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to process your request. It may take longer so please be patient.

Please note that not all applications will be approved.

A quick googling suggests two ways:

A. the money costing way = buying a private vent server from companies that sell it, like typefrag. (that's what alot of gamers do)

B. downloading an older version of the ventrilo server which doesn't have restrictions. We could possibly try that? I wonder if it's still good. It requires an older version of the client tho.

There's probably still some other work around, but that's all I found for now.

I haven't been able to find an older version, but I haven't had very much time to look this morning. If we can get our hands on one, that might work out though there might be some degree of risk involved.

Also, if anyone wants to host the "ventrilo_2.1.1.exe" file, it's just 1mb.

Now you can afk and dick around as much as you want in there.

I don't suppose there's an old Mac version that works with this server. . .

how do I get Version 2.3.1? The main site only has 2.3.0.

EDIT: How do I get my 2.3.0 to work? Or rather, should I download the new server?

It's all in the codecs. You can change them to the same codec and they will sound the same. (I like vent's interface better though)

I have to use vent for other shit like WoW and stuff so I'm gonna have to not go to this one I guess. I can't downgrade my version just to get in this one.

Trust me, you can have both installed, I've already tested switching back and forth. Just install this version under "program files/ventrilo2" or something. You can't run them both at the same time, but you can definitely run one for awhile, then switch to the other.
